I’m having going around in circles arguments with various individuals who lament, “They’re making more money on Unemployment than they are working. No one’s going to want to return to work.”

How is it these who got furloughed are going to make any money at all if they voluntarily refuse to return to work? What states allow workers to collect Unemployment Insurance if they voluntarily terminate their employment?

Refusal to accept a position that’s reopened following a furlough is voluntary resignation, no? Ir am I missing something?

You are right. Generally, if you refuse work, you lose unemployment. In some states you can make a case that the work environment you are being offered, is dangerous and does not comply with CDC and OSHA standards and keep your unemployment. They will hold a hearing and decide if you can keep getting unemployment.

And then it’s fun when you do things like this

Possability you might not be able to see the listings:

https://jobs.utah.gov/jsp/utjobs/seeker/search/seeker-search?keywordsNoLoc=&keywordsLoc=salt%20lake%20city,%20utah&onetClasses=&saveSearch=&searchType=basic&keywords=&keywordsAndOr=A&locationType=stateWide&actionButton=Search&sortOrder=date&onetType=choose&currentTab=tree&

15,000 job openings listed through state job service within 40 miles of downdown salt lake city. Wonder how many of the 600 a week plus are applying for those jobs?

Here’s some information I’m seeking

The $600 extra did end with no replacement, but it appears employers aren’t having as hard a time finding job seekers in spite of some projecting many wouldn’t want to return to work with the bonus to UI.

My company has not had any problem with hiring. Then again, pretty much any job we offer has wage/benefits, salary/benefits, that well outweigh the additional $600.00 a week.
