You can’t just let the general public film inside hospitals and take their word for it that they won’t film patients. Maybe you think it’s a stupid law and patients have no right to privacy. Fine, but it’s still a law, she broke it, and there are consequences for breaking laws, even when the perp agrees with your politics.

Then you don’t understand what things that have to be done look like while their being done. You want some scum bag reporter taking pictures of your kid at their most vulnerable moment to get “likes”?

I mean what I said in reply to Jay.

filming parts of the hospital that were not COVID wards and were closed for the holiday weekend

To clarify, I’ve never seen a hospital nor any part of it closed for a holiday weekend. Not in the US and not overseas.

Not taking new elective patients is not the same as closed.

I don’t believe you would feel this way if you or a loved one were in the hospital.

I had to do things to patients that if you saw them, would make you think I’m a monster with a callous disregard for human life. Torture.

The SCOTUS is unambiguous on this. If you are in a public setting of any kind you have no expectation of privacy and may be recorded on audio and video at any time.

Sometimes it’s completely unavoidable.

I believe it. I just had a colonoscopy. Luckily no one was there to film it for Facebook.

That isn’t PT.

You consider a hospital room a “public setting”?

She was arrested on a bull ■■■■ charge for not submitting.

An ER is not a “hospital room”, it is an entry way and is public.

ERs are not public.

There were no patients nor staff present on the video.

Of course they are, they are open to the public.

She only filmed in the ER? Then how did she know about how many patients were in the hospital?

Do you really not expect privacy if you go to the ER? No matter what they do to you, you’re okay with random people filming it?

She still broke the law.

No they are not. They are restricted access. The public cannot wander around an ER any more than they can wander around a prison.

I did consider the ghoul aspect.

Public funding comes with an expectation of transparency.

That doesn’t mean anyone can just wander in there and start filming.
