hiss Trump! hiss snarl snap!!1!
They’re currently built in Canada for the most part. The Type R is built in Japan but they build the 2.0L engine in the Ohio engine plant and then ship it to Japan. Which is kind of insane that it’s financially viable to do that but it is.
Not so crazy really.
So many containers go back to Asia empty that shipping costs US-to-Asia is basically free.
It is not the first thing you’d think of but:
Every time a container comes from a factory in Asia to anywhere in the US, it goes back empty so, American businesses can m/l supply Asian factories for LESS THAN they supply US factories.
Ya wanna send something across town? Ya gotta pay a driver and gas. Ya wanna send something to a factory in shanghai? Well, it was going there anyway.

*(For reference: The rate to here is quoted as *
Shanghai to Los Angeles: $2,658 per 40ft container and those from Shanghai to New York d: $3,774 per 40ft container.
But you’ll easily pay twice that once all the fees (not including tariffs) are done with.)
every company makes emergency plans.
hopefully never to use them.

I’d have to imagine that whether it is Honda or Rolls Royce news (of plans) comes out one of two ways.
Either
someone just happens to ask a question during a quarterly earning announcement etc.
Or more likely
the company wants everyone to know. They are trying to prop-up investor sentiment, or they are telling Donald Trump “back-off. we’re thinking about it,” etc…"
I -don’t- companies reveal undecided plans without a specific intention in mind.
Foxconn.
Not a company you really wanted here.
That’s who we’re up against.
Every US tech manufacturer does battle against them every single day.
They are also famous for high suicide rates, and slave labor.
Again, not a company you want in the US.
