That’s not how the law works.
If Trump instructed Cohen to violate the law on his behalf, he committed a crime. That crime is not mitigated by the fact that Cohen should have known better.

Nevertheless, the argument that Trump isn’t culpable because Cohen should have stopped him holds no legal weight.
Then why have lawyers?
Cohen has already said that he has mucho hours of audio tape. It might be more easily provable then you think.
All more reason to never trust lawyers then.
