Hmm yeah, why isn’t this a bigger deal ?
Either people are offended by the N-word or they aren’t
What we are seeing with COVID is that even scientific journals have become tools for censorship.
It used be that scientist with different views and different data would present papers arguing for their hypothesis. A consensus meant that there was enough reproduceable results from multiple sources to support a particular interpretation. Of course new results and new interpretations are always coming along.
What we have seen with COVID is that a small group of politically connected scientists develop a party line and enforce it in the scientific journals. That was how Fauci and friends created the natural-origin-is-the-only-explanation narrative, even though private emails show they considered a lab leak as the likely origin from the start. Scientists who challenged the official narrative were effectively banned from the mainstream journals, faced loss of funding, and continue to be the target of censorship as shown by the attacks on Joe Rogan.

Their first impressions didn’t match their understanding when the looked into it.
Stop the presses.
Yes, selective indignation has become rampant.
Russian businesses are noted for corrupt practices. The successor to the KGB has the goods on all the oligarchs, but only those who openly oppose Putin seem to face prosecution.
Similar things are going on here.
Trump’s investigators in Hawaii have found amazing things!

Is this where you guys dig all the way back to the Dixie Chicks to find an example of the right canceling someone?

Rather large difference between consumer boycotts and ESG’s, deplatforming and cutting off access to banking. It is going to be slightly amusing when the left finally figures out they are corporate and government dupes.

What does the data to approve the vaccine have to do with whether it is effective? Why not just look at the results using data after use?
Also, are you imagining the FDA is able to convince all the other countries around the world to suppress information and lie about vaccine effectiveness? That’s one powerful FDA! More likely it is tinfoil hat talk.

Peer review without access to the underlying data isn’t science. Look at the left, shielding big pharma’s finance decision based take over of American medicine

I couldn’t care less about canceling celebrities, the more recent attempts to ban books from schools are much more insidious examples of cancel culture.

Gibberish, not one book has been banned. Name it and I will show you where you can buy it. School libraries and curriculums can’t encompass the worlds millions of books, decisions therefore must be made. And should be made by the primary stake holders, parents.

Gibberish?
I didn’t say they had been banned, I said “recent attempts to ban books” were insidious. And you ignored “from schools” in your reply. Yes, I know the books are still available at stores.
Yes, except those decisions have already been made and the books are already in school libraries, and then concerned Karens come along to try to have them removed. Insidious.

Nobody tried to ban any books. And curriculums and library stocks have never been permanent. You just don’t like parents making the decision, tough.

They’ve tried to ban them “from schools.” Why do you keep ignoring that part?
So?
I don’t like small groups of angry, ignorant parents making bad cancel culture decisions that will negatively affect education, no.

God I wish you had been here when the whole Dr. Seuss thing was a gigantic deal for the cons posting here. Like non stop “THEY’RE BANNING DR SEUSS!!!” even though as you state, in no way was anything banned. A publishing company made a business decision to stop printing some. Which happens for pretty much every book at some point. But it was impossible to explain that here past all the screaming.

So you also think the vaccine effectiveness is being lied about…by all the countries around the world?

Feel free to look back on that discussion and note my absence of complaint.

No, I think what I said, that it’s not really peer review without access to the underlying data. Pharma has many billions of reasons to misrepresent that data.
