Overfunding is not the answer to police shootings.

Not one cop was shot in Brookside, AL.

Cops are #25 on the list.

First off, that isn’t a tank. That is simply an armored truck. It is bullet proof. SWAT teams deal with active shooters and violent hostage situations. Those things can happen anywhere. Common sense says that SWAT team deploys in a protective vehicle that can provide cover from gunfire. A couple of days ago we had a Deputy Constable killed by a shooter during a traffic stop. The shooter got out of his car and opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, shooting the officer through the front windoe of his cruiser, killing him with a shot to the head.

But you parrot the BS about cops targeting African Americans because of their race for intentional violence and death. Reality is Progressives push a narrative anytime a African American is killed by a police officer that it is automatically a race motivated event. Then with the Floyd incident defund the police became the slogan and big city progressive Democrat Party controlled city counsels and mayors jumped on the bandwagon and cut police budgets, reduced police forces, canceled academy classes to slow or shut down the pipeline of new officers and parroted the broad brush accusation that cops and the criminal justice system are racist. At the same time state and federal elected Democrats also jumped on the bandwagon, pushed bills at the state and federal level, with some local bills passing, but most failing, trying to take defund the police and re-imagine law enforcement to the national level. Only one problem, crime exploded in those cities and it is a major issue in the upcoming elections, with defund the police now a loosing slogan and stance with the vast majority of the public. And police officers killed in the line of duty, with many ambushed, doesn’t motivate voters to support defund the police.

You have hitched your wagon to a dead horse. But keep being a apologist for the narrative.

explain how please

thank you

out of how many professions?

didnt say it was. no one is calling for “overfunding” nice attempt at creating a straw man

sounds like being adequately funded is working then

is lack of police killings your proof that cops get too much money?

Not yet…

For this discussion it doesn’t matter. The poster stated he thought being a cop was the most dangerous profession.

But the total number of professions is mentioned in the article.

no the poster didnt state that. it was questioned, but not stated

is it really?

Yes…its in there.

but you dont want to state the answer?

why not?

It was a declaritive question…

Just read the article…lol.

That picture may not be a tank but there is no denying that our police are militarized.

Are you familiar with some of the riots in the 60s and 90s? Do you remember what they were about?

Defunding slogan did not increase crime. Very few departments defunded. More police is not always the answer.

“lol” huh? not sure what’s so funny.

perhaps it’s because the number of professions surveyed put police officer among the top 10% of the most fatal professions.

and yet we hear they are overfunded

no wonder you nervously laughed off the question. it kills the idiotic narrative

And you picked a real winner of a city to spot light your argument. Brookside is in the 21%, with 79% of cities having a lower crime rate than Brookside. And Brookside is located in a high crime region, with surrounding cities having similar high crime rates.

Way to undermine your argument.

Hell of a quandary to be in. Must be seen as down with the struggle by supporting the narrative. But the narrative is doing real damage to political prospects for the movement.

With landscaping and electrician identified as more dangerous.

Of all professions listed… the only one that is also dangerous to private citizens is policing. In other words, I don’t have to worry about a stray lawnmower killing me. But a cops bullet….

Yes, politically “defund the police” was stupid. But if you get past the window dressing… (like critical thinkers should) you begin to realize that the slogan really should be “don’t increase police funding”.

Police don’t really prevent crime. They investigate it, post hoc. Most of what progressives want is solving the problem of increased crime in other ways. Less poverty, for example, equals less crime. Less poverty also equals better schools… which equals lower crime.
