They are not any other US citizen. They are also Citizens of that country that is holding them. Special circumstances. If they wanted complete US protection they should have renounced their other citizenship.

Having dual citizenship does not negate the fact that they are American Citizens and just as entitled to our nation’s protection. You will not find any law or ordinance stating an American with dual citizenship is a lesser citizen.

My point is, they remain Saudi Citizens and are subject to their laws as such. Since they kept their Saudi Citizenship (or if they were US citizens first and became Saudi citizens without renouncing like they should – in my opinion), the US should play no part in their arrest and let their laws play out with their citizens.
