The fanatics are the fanatics. They’ll always pull that ox cart.
But I have faith that the majority of non-fanatical progs and democrats see this for what it is.

Remember how they blamed Bush for 9/11? Just one month more in office.
They’ve already rationalized this away.

For twenty years.
Ya the long awaited and always expected end to our Afghanistan adventure.
What was everyone picturing the ending to our long failed war to look like? What on earth made anyone imagine whatever that was?
I originally joined here to talk Ron Paul back in the day, and got the “why do you hate America” treatment from Gdoane and Rick and the dude with the martini avatar but sure I’ll be whatever “they” makes everyone forget the good ol’ neocon days.

I’m not sure what you mean by the latest on this.
Maybe you can clarify? Did you not know Americans cannot get to the airport or do not know that was an issue in the first place?

I hate to think of it but you are correct. This is just the beginning.

It looks like Biden cancelled a program that Trump established to reduce problems for Americans overseas. Expect deception will continue.
The “Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau” – which was designed to handle medical, diplomatic, and logistical support concerning Americans overseas was paused by Antony Blinken’s State Department earlier this year. Notification was officially signed just months before the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. . . officials inside the State Department objected to the Trump-era aim of creating a Contingency and Crisis Response bureau with the express purpose of avoiding a future Benghazi-style situation for Americans overseas.

Why wasn’t the Afghan government included in discussions?
Because the US has been in Afghanistan SUPPORTING the Afghan govt while OPPOSING the Taliban for 20 years?
They’re ■■■■ ing terrorists,
Who and what are these American doing there? The military ran out on Bagram in the middle of the night back at the start of July.
We’ve all been reading for yearrrrs that we weren’t putting a dent in the processing of special visa applicants. Too politically charged to care about then, now everyone’s shocked.
We’ve all known as soon as we pulled out he Taliban would take back over. Who was even attempting to pretend otherwise these last few years?
Ya. Plus all the infrastructure. Trillion dollars. Trillion. Where did we expect it would end up? Kabul Disneyland?
I really just hope we take the lesson of “don’t do any of this anymore” instead of how to plan a more graceful retreat next time we do it.
$2.2 trillion went to the military and surveillance state. Mission accomplished.

They failed in 11 days. How would have including them (your words) helped? Seems to me we negotiated with the real power brokers of Afghanistan. Not the puppets

Yeah, so. They were negotiating a withdrawal.
Yes. We have to rely on the Taliban to allow Americans to leave. They are same people we have been calling terrorists since 2001.
What could go wrong with that?
This is the swamp many keep voting for and protecting like the TV tells them too.
