Turkey continues to humiliate NATO allies

Yeah man who can say if the protection of America’s nuclear umbrella and world-girdling military helps tiny countries with no nuclear weapons from the predations of other large nuclear powers. It’s a mystery.

I dunno you certainly tolerated a bunch of high ranking Trump guys acting as agents of Turkey when it was convenient to your politics.

Its ■■■■■■ to have to tolerate Turkey and all their shenanigans, but not having them in NATO is worse.

Also it’s not like anyone saw the defeat of the one real Deep State in the world and their total purging after a hundred years of enforced atheism and center-right rule in Turkey.

Next up- how to deal with getting grain shipments from Odessa out of the Black Sea.

Turkey’s role here is crucial and so far they have been two faced. This deal looks crappy for Ukraine. NATO military escorts?

Turkey and Russia have reached a tentative deal to restart shipments of Ukraine’s agricultural products from a key Black Sea port, but Kyiv remains skeptical of the proposed pact, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government has offered military help to clear mines off the coast of Odesa and escort grain ships but Ukraine has yet to endorse the plan, worried that removing defenses could leave the vital port open to Russian attack, the people said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss matters that aren’t yet public. Turkey hopes that a United Nations endorsement of the proposal could allay security concerns, the people said.

Yes, we showed them in Afghanistan and Vietnam.

The Ukrainian war is showing that NATO has serious issues with its weapon systems. The weapons don’t work and/or the Russians have developed effective countermeasures.

The last nuclear test was thirty years ago. What happens if we find out the nukes are really duds?

Russia ready to starve the world for the sake of winning in Ukraine. Starvation seems to be a favorite tactic of Russia going back quite a ways.

You’re kidding right?

Have you not seen how many T-72Ms, T-80s, and T-90s Russia has lost in this war?

Hell they are so desperate they are pulling obsolete T-62s out of storage.

US, British, German, and Norwegian anti-tank infantry carried weapons are devastating Russian tank battalions.

I’m more surprised they haven’t escalated to nerve agents yet.

Give it time!

If things don’t go well in the Donbas this summer, I have faith that the Russians will try (almost) anything.

I hope we are sending the Ukrainians a ton of MOP gear.

They’re gonna need it.

Ive always thought that Odessa would be the perfect spot for a chem attack. Russia doesn’t want to blow it to oblivion and would prefer a nice retreat spot for oligarchs. But chem warfare would just kill people and leave those nice domed buildings intact.

Definitely a good target. Cleanup would be an issue (some WWI battlefields are still contaminated more than a century later) but it could be done with enough money and willpower.

Yes, those are the fairy tales from the people who brought us the Ghost of Kiev. The same people said that the “nuclear option” for financial sanctions would cause the Russian economy to collapse.

Ukraine is winning the disinformation war, but Russia is using huge amounts of artillery to grind down the Ukrainian Army and to win on the battlefield. The fall of Azovstal shows that a decisive Russian victory is pretty much inevitable.

Boris Johnson admitted that the Russian strategy was likely to give a victory back in April, but his comments in India were largely ignored in the US media. The events since then have shown that Johnson’s fears were well founded.

. . . Putin was “still in a position to win,” despite making strategic blunders, and whether the war could run on until the end of 2023.

Johnson said: "The sad thing is, that is a realistic possibility.

“Putin has a huge army. He has a very difficult political position because he’s made a catastrophic blunder. The only option he now has really is to continue to try to use his appalling, grinding approach — led by artillery — trying to grind the Ukrainians down. And he’s very close to securing a land bridge in Mariupol.”

Turkey worked on a negotiated settlement a back in March, but the UK and the US torpedoed the effort because they thought Ukraine could win on the battlefield. Since then NATO realizes that the Russians are really winning and US officials have tried to get a cease fire.

At this point, the Russians have no reason to negotiate. They can continue with their approach and then dictate the terms for Ukraine.

Turkey realizes that Washington and London have been believing their own disinformation when they forced an end to Turkey’s efforts to broker a settlement. There may well be an element of tit-for-tat in Turkey’s demands for allowing Sweden and Finland to join NATO.

Meanwhile Turkey is working with Russia to open Black Sea ports to grain shipments. Will Washington end that effort as well?

way overplaying.

when it comes down to it, nato would rather have finland and sweeden, two allies they can trust to keep their agreements, than turkey since erdogan, one they can’t.

this a game you need trump for. brandon is an idiot.

More humiliations are on the horizon for Finland and Sweden and their friends in NATO.

Turkey warns that it can still veto membership, and Turkey has repeated its demands for extradition of Kurds who are allegedly connected to the PKK.

actually Turkey is not humiliating anyone. NATO humiliates itself for being a woke
Mob. Turkey may be the only country left with common sense.

Yes, Turkey has not gone along with the self-defeating NATO sanctions.

Its citizens are not facing a winter without heat. Its farmers are not protesting the lack of fertilizer.
