Let’s be honest: If Conservatives wanted absolute zero censorship, we would go to the dark web. But we have morals. We don’t want to see Cheese Pizza (if you know what I mean) or to see people offing their lives on camera for likes, or to see different amounts of illegal drugs on the Black Market. We hate that stuff and wish people would follow the law.

Freedom of speech is not black and white and people use this fact to justify unnecessary censorship on their behalf. They will accuse the other side of hate speech when they state an unpopular opinion. The thing with freedom of the press and other text speech is, tone can be difficult to decipher, because there is no non-verbals. Also, you have to take into account the philosophy behind the Constitution and each of its amendments. We already saw some limits to the 1A when it was decided you can’t yell fire in a movie theater.

With freedom comes responsibility. You have the freedom to do something, but you are not free from the consequences of your behavior.

I hate how the Left takes a law that is so well-spelled and twists it. Or they take a vaguely-written one and exploit loopholes. It irks me.

Oh not the fire in a theater thing, it is not illegal to yell fire in a theater. Nobody is prohibited from doing it. There could be consequences for doing so if it was malicious and untrue but there is no prior restraint.

That’s why telling fire in a theater isn’t illegal.

The illegal part is inciting panic, especially if the panic results in injury to persons because of a stampede.

Yelling fire in a theater that is actually on fire is perfectly legal.
