Seems like the more interesting question is, what in the hell is going on that Trump is using blatant racism to change the conversation?

But above all else, the fact the early electoral map and demographics are not favorable to Trump’s re-election so he’s got to change that. Possibly/probably in dirty ways so that these types of tweets serve a dual purpose- fire up who he has to fire up as well as provide a mask.

Calvin i always appreciate your measured thoughtful posts - especially when we disagree. But I think you are doing some seriously careful parsing to get to your position. Look how many words it took for you get there. What trump said was rooted in racism, end of story. Just like his birtherism, just like calling black atheletes “sons of bitches” - he capitalizes on our innate fear of the “other” and how they should know their place. It’s racism. He thinks white people are better because they’re white.
