Trump's home raided by FBI agents (Part 2)

Continuing the discussion from Trump's home raided by FBI agents (Part 1) - #10320 by TheDoctorIsIn.

Previous discussions:

To start us off, let’s just recap the latest development. Trump indeed took and hid top secret foreign government nuclear secrets.

I will ask the very basic question- why? Why would Trump have these docs and lie and hide them?

….

The FBI recovered a document describing a foreign government’s nuclear capabilities during its search of Mar-a-Lago, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

The Post, citing unnamed sources, did not identify the foreign government named in the document describing the country’s military defenses.

The content of the more than 11,000 government documents and photographs FBI agents recovered from Donald Trump’s Florida estate last month has not been revealed, but previous reporting from the Post indicated classified documents about nuclear weapons were among the items federal authorities were looking for.

“…citing unnamed sources”. Cool. Went through that nonsense before.

Comey explained the difference between that and this pretty clearly:

In looking back at our investigations into mishandling or removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts. All the cases prosecuted involved some combination of: clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information; or vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice. We do not see those things here.

Obviously if Trump believed he had changed the classification of those documents, he did not believe he had mishandled classified documents.
Yes, if he took those documents to keep some crime from being discovered, that would have been obstruction.
Now, do you really believe Hillary looked at that top secret information and thought it was not classified?

The documents don’t belong to him. They aren’t his. That part doesn’t matter if he thought they were declassified. Cipillone and others explained this to him.
He hasn’t made the legal argument that he declassified any documents. At least not in any court filings.
What top secret info are you referring to re Hillary?

It doesn’t matter whether or not he believed he had mishandled classified documents - it’s that he did it willfully - not inadvertantly.

The secretly declassifying documents argument has not been made in court.

Want to wonder why?

At some point you guys have to admit that the situation of Hillary and Trump is apples and oranges.
It’s a nice deflection, but holds no water at all.

Continued ignoring the abuse of office by a sitting President at your own legal peril.

You cannot impeach Trump over a vague phone call mention and then raid his minor child’s room and wife’s clothes closet and pretend it is in the name of cloaked justice.

Garland and Biden will be held accountable.

Just a question of when.

Carry on with the pretext fantasy.

You just listed a fantasy and told others to carry on.

At least you stopped calling them by their first names. Like you were their friend. Thanks for that.

Was Hillary too stupid to know what she was doing or was it “clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information”? I say she was very smart in this area and her purpose was an end around of the FOIA. Also…that’s just on what she handed over and doesn’t include the thousands of emails she didn’t or what was subject to bleachbit or what information was on the equipment she destroyed with hammers. This clearly displays the two-tier system of justice being applied between the two people.

That defense will not suffice.

The questions will become a blizzard of accounting.

Hiding in the basement is only a temporary reprieve.

Big Joey has some splainin to do. Abuse of office…political enemies…

It doesn’t matter what he did or didn’t do tot he documents classification. They are not his to keep.

Additionally, like Boll Barr said, the idea of him just willy nilly declassifying things so he can take them to your country club is probably worse than the idea of him taking classified documents to his county club.

Why do you feel compelled to defend every single thing this one human man does?

This is all a dream. Like locking her up. It’s a nice fantasy. It’s not going to pan out this way.

They may lose votes cuz of it though.

It is a nightmare for Brandon.

Oh how his surrogates squealed with delight over Trumps stupid perfect phone call.

Then Brandon goes full KGB model.

It is wild how the years long repetition of the same phrases over and over are invoked devoid of any context.
