At some point it is. He has no right to have them.

One would think that Marco Rubio, who is on the Senate Intelligence Committee would be concerned with how a private citizen was able to hold onto quite a bit of classified material for a year and a half

I’m guessing he was pretty shocked the FBI would conduct a raid. I think the dude has felt he is above the law for a long long long time.

Well, if that’s what you ā€œfeltā€ then it must be true. We all know Liberals act on emotion, not fact.

Yes or no.

Trump has no right to the classified material in his possession?

Got an election this Fall!

Former Presidents always have a right to classified information, and that includes Obama. Look it up.

They have that right only by the grace of the current administration.

If the government wants the classified material back… do they get to keep it?

The answer is no.

except that under the law ex presidents are entitled to materials that were classified while they were president

By the grace of the current government they have that right. If the current government wants that material back… they can’t keep it. It isn’t theirs to keep.

false. it is law

Would you mind sourcing that law?

Thank you.

No it isn’t.

A Former President has no rights to classified material if the government wants that material back.

The former President does not own it.

there you go

yes, it is.

ā€œMay be waivedā€

That means if they get permission from the current admin

Yes, just as much as Hillary personally sat in front of a keyboard to delete all those emails.

Or did the original boxes just wind up in his place before without him knowing it? He’s never gone the plausible deniability route over it.

What does the phrase ā€œmay be grantedā€ mean to you?

A couple of former federal prosecutors said the same thing today. That in order to get this warrant the Feds had to prove to the Judge that there was a crime in process or a crime that was imminent and therefore the documents had to be recovered now.

no, it means if its not denied by the current administration.

how stupid would it be to try to prevent a ex-president from knowing what he already knows?

so they lied. nothing new. the fact that he was cooperating, had turned over documents requested and his lawyers were in conversations with the archivist about possible other documents is proof that no crime was ā€œabout to happenā€
