Who knew math could be so hard?
Don’t fear though, just purchase and use the Alternative Math for Dummies book.
It is how Trump does it.
The Republican Party has never been the party of fiscal responsibility. They have never met a military project they didn’t want to spend money on. They are simply the party of low taxes.

If the Democrats are Tax and Spend then the GOP is Spend just as much and make our Grandchildren pay for it.

The article that you linked to is dated from over a year ago. Since that time, the National debt has increased by about a trillion dollars.

What I couldn’t find was what the total summation of all tax revenue generated since the tax cut…annualized vs the the total government expenditures of President Obama’s last year in office? I think that’s the quotient I’d apply to measure the success vs failure of the tax cuts. This number has to improve or Congress should act and raise taxes?
Trump’s “infrastructure bill” scares the living daylights out of me too. Dems have proposed 2 trillion and I doubt too many Republicans are going to object. How I interpret this is it’s just going to be a corrupt feeding frenzy of waste, miscalculations and cost over-runs. It’d be interesting to know how much of that 2 trillion is proposed to actually go to where the rubber meets the road? Historically…when I hear a politician use the word infrastructure synonymously with their proposed spending bill…it means that it’s mostly pork.
doesn’t matter if we can’t, only matter if he can

The economy was slowly improving from 2010-16. Steady improvement is the best kind of improvement. There was no significant change from Obama to Trump, other than the sudden increase in the deficit.
The sudden downturn in 2008-09 was mostly inherited from the previous period.
We’ll experience the damage Trump is doing over the next 5-10-15 years. Like we experienced the damage done by protectionism in the 1920s several years later. And the damage from the severe deficits beginning in 1932.
The consequences are long-term.
Liberals are still blaming Bush for the economy collapsing in 2008. So funny. The economy only collapsed because people knew Obama was going to win the election and ruin the economy. Obama “fixing” the economy he created is the definition of what liberalism is all about. Conservatives, like Donald Trump, knows that the steady growth of the Obama years is worthless. A boom/bust cycle where Republicans can take credit for the booms and Democrats are blamed for the busts will ultimately make America great.

That 2 trillion dollar amount is a lower figure than the amount that Trump has increased the debt by.

Actually…President Bill Clinton with his huge, ill planned and ill thought out expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act and the removal of Glass-Steagall that was the one, two punch of The Great Recession.

…and it’s this moronic division of blame that continues to exacerbate this problem that affects all of us.
