Your comment should read, “Mexico says that 20,000 asylum seekers are heading for our southern border right now.”. Does a wall prevent someone from claiming asylum?

Almost half the people illegally in our country have overstayed their visa. They aren’t asylum seekers (which is legal).

Now, when is the last time you saw a Trump voter start a thread about the illegals in our country who overstay their visas? Or even mention it?

Stating that there is a problem somewhere else so we shouldn’t mention the problem with the border is not a very good argument. If it bothers you, by all means start a thread on the problem of people who are here illegally because they overstay their visa. That is indeed a problem that should be tackled…along with all the fake asylum seekers.

I’d be happy to vote for the Democratic nominee who wants to secure the border and crack down on illegal immigration. I would even back a single payer healthcare system for the above candidate.

I am one of the 20% of Americans who think thinks immigration is the the biggest issue in the U.S. I am not saying this sarcastically but if there is a candidate for 2020 in the Democratic Party who is hawkish on border security point me to them and I will have a serious look, because I am far from a huge Trump fan.

I would say he seems to be trying, of course he is not a dictator it takes all sides and when I hear people like Beto O Rourke say we need to tear down the existing borders it makes me think the democrats really don’t care about the issue.

At this point I would be happy to see someone on the left taking it as serious as Senator Obama did on his first run for the WH.

And to answer your question if Trump was primaried by another republican that wasn’t as crazy but still took this issue seriously I would be happy to vote for them.
