I was focusing on the steel industry alone there.

Anyone else see the irony of the left:
“Raise the minimum wage by 50%!! Who cares if it raises the cost of labor for every business in America, they will eat the expense…”
Vs now.
“5% tax on imports?!? The economy will collapse!! Businesses will close their doors!! Dogs and cats living together!! Total anarchy!!”
How long is it going to remain 5%
When is it going to hit 50% like the current minimum wage proponents want that they think won’t be an issue?
Dunno, it hasn’t collapsed economy in places that passes minimum wages laws like Seattle…
So how long is the 5% going to be until it goes to 10,15,up to 25%?
That is a huge tax increase in a short amount of time

So, you support kicking the can down the road so that every year we have more and more illegals entering the country who are wreaking havoc on our education/medical/healthcare/welfare systems. Not to mention decreasing the wage base for blue collar Americans and taking their jobs?
And BTW, we have no idea who these people are or if they even have been immunized. Measle outbreaks, TB and did you know that we’ve caught those from the Congo (yes, Ebola) coming across our border?
Do you really think importers, shippers, etc. are just going to cry in their cup all day long? No, there is plenty of means of trade elsewhere.
There is NOTHING Mexico trades with us that we cannot find elsewhere or supply for ourselves.

Because the cost of illegals is so much less than tariffs
Collapsed? No. Slowed down hiring and increased costs? Yup.

Avoidance. Well that pretty much explains it all.
Yeah that didnt actually occur
Results: There were no overall market basket price changes attributable to Seattle’s minimum wage policy. Moreover, no minimum wage effect was detected by USDA food group, food processing, or nutrient density categories. Conclusions: Local area supermarket food prices were not impacted by Seattle’s minimum wage policy 2 years into policy implementation and after the first increase to $15/h overall or by sub-classificatio

I think it goes more like this:
Increase the minimum wage and increase regulations so that we cannot be competitive (and taxes too while we’re at it). Cripple us so that we are dependent even though we have the resources to be independent.
Import and financially support/encourage countries that don’t have regulations, are polluters and use child labor. You know, the whole thing we find abominable in this country.
In the meantime, encourage those looking for work to cross our border illegally, suppress wages for blue collar workers, take their jobs and wreak havoc on our medical, education and welfare systems to the breaking point.
Because there is nothing, absolutely nothing we get from Mexico that we cannot produce on our own or buy elsewhere.
Sounds like a real win for America.

Lol at ‘conservative’ suddenly thinking the government is the answer to inner city americans getting jobs.
Just three years ago all I heard from you and your ilk was, this was their fault…all they have to do it move and find a job.

What a dumb post.
look, if you want more illegals coming to the USA, support policy that bloc up the mexican economy . If you want fewer pope trying to cross or boarders illegally help our neighbor build a strong economy.
It’s really that simple.
all the there ■■■■■■■■ is just talk radio crap signed to scare you into tuning in for another hour or two.
