You can’t say Republicans and Trump didn’t try really really hard to repeal Obamacare and replace it with their free market plans they had been busy crafting for the previous 6 years.

For 17 whole days and only 3 golf trips for the President in that time frame, Republicans tried really hard but kept coming back to a plan that sounded suspiciously like Obamacare. Trump even hauled in the Freedom Caucus for a 45 minute tongue lashing. They did everything they could and put all their ideas forward, but it just didn’t happen because of Democrats.

Obama didn’t write Obama care. It is sad rep don’t have legislation to bring more choice and free market influence on health care ready to go. It’s also sad more reps are not proposing ideas for a better system. It’s another reason Trump won!. I did see a nice round table on fox business last friday that had good free market ideas.

The biggest problem is that the costumer is separated from the costs. We need to bring back real insurance. If all you want is catastrophic insurance then you should have that right. It’s all young people need.

I agree that under the copay model of health insurance the consumer was separated from the real cost but that is changing now with higher deductibles and Health Savings Account which gives consumers a say in how they spend their health care dollars.

There are plenty of cost and quality transparency tools that are offered to customers through their health insurance companies or employers and there is a steady increase of consumers using these tools. Providers will start to be more competitive in their pricing when they start to see business going to more cost effective providers that provide the same quality of health care.

We have an insane model of health care where the consumer has no idea of the cost until after services have been rendered. There is no other business like that. Can you imagine going into Best Buy and buying a brand new TV or appliance and not knowing the price until after you have agreed to purchase it?

Health insurance companies are also working with health care providers to change the reimbursement models. The old style fee for service still exists but providers are beginning to see the advantages of a reimbursement system based on the quality of care and positive clinical outcomes. I have been involved in such a project and at first providers were suspicious but those who were part of the pilot have not only seen their revenue stream increase they are able to spend longer with their patients and no longer focused on seeing the maximum number of patients regardless of the outcome which the fee for service model encourages.

A lot voted for Hillary so a lot must be stupid. But I don’t think he is pushing for Republicans to formulate a healthcare plan because he thinks the electorate is stupid. I think he’s doing it to make the Republicans accountable to THEIR promises to repeal and REPLACE Obamacare.

Their last two attempts were just stupid. The final “skinny” bill was a joke. And there were a whole bunch of Republicans on the hill who were glad it failed. Otherwise they would have been voted out of office post haste.

We saw years of Republican congressmen not keeping THEIR promises. When Trump promised he had a plan ready to unveil after the inauguration, we hoped he’d keep HIS promise. Disappointment all around.

Trump lives in the moment. It has been reported that Mick Mulvaney floated the idea for him to bring it up again. Which shows you that the COS to the President is an idiot. Trump doesn’t have a plan rather then say that it is going to be great. And at least a portion of his base still believes his BS. If this is repealed in the courts the Republicans are in deep ■■■■■ The only thing they can do is to reissue Obama care and call it Trump care and hope that we are dumb enough to buy into it.

I’m not sure Mulvaney is at fault here. He was trying to divert the President away from his plans to attack Puerto Rico and make them a territory. He was already at the ‘coloring in maps’ stage.
