The dual loyalties anti-semitic trope is exactly what Rep. Omar was criticised for, criticism which Trump himself joined in.
So, yeah. Trump said something anti-semtic, and when given the choice to backpedal he doubled down on it.
Seems like many who were more than happy to jump on Tlaib and Omar’s anti-semitic statements are somewhat reliuctant to recognize Trumps. Big surprise.

It’s not hard at all - it’s a religion.

So her “My bad” makes it all ok. Got it. And those who excused Tlaiban and Omar with “freshman Congress!” are more than happy to jump on Trump’s. Big surprise.
Do you believe their “apology” was sincere or do they still believe what they said?
I believe more Jews fought for Germany in World War I than in any other army except maybe the British. But I’m pretty sure the German army had a larger percentage of Jewish soldiers. It’s between those two.
Germany and German controlled Poland were the beating hearts of European Jewish culture despite both nations being fairly anti Semitic.
But the Germans needed a scapegoat to explain how they lost the war despite still being on French territory in November 1918.
The Jews, the communists, and the social democrats were the targets of their rage and frustration.
That could be a good point so to whether Jewish is the right word. It may not be but it is because for a reason going back quite some time jews were classed as a separate group of people and not only because of their Religion
Again this was a government construct but again even generic testing now identifies one as Jewish regardless of religion
You think the Nazis polled Jews if they believed in God to determine if they were truly Jewish or German?

Re-reading Melville’s “The Confidence Man” last year reminded me of how well Trump exemplifies one traditional American type.
True story, most of the early anti Semitic laws passed by the Nazis exempted Great War veterans because they had “proven” their patriotism. They ended up in the ghettos and camps like everyone else though.

I believe both are anti-semitic, or close enough (in sympathies, thoughts and language) that it doesn’t matter.
Benefit of the doubt takes you a certain distance, and they’re beyond that. So is Trump.
They still believe what they said.

There was a teacher where my mother used to teach, several decades back, who was from Austria and one of her parents was Jewish. She stated that her family was exempted from being removed because their father had fought in WWI.
The family still didn’t get off free though. Her 14 year old brother was drafted in the last days of WWII and was killed. Not only tragic but a bit of irony on what he died defending.

The difference is Trump has Jews in his family.

They give no significance to context. Trump was making his statement to try to get the support of Jews, not to attack them. Do they really think he hates his own family members.
It all comes back to their losing faith in the Russian conspiracy thing. They have nothing left but his tweets to have fits about.

He went about getting their support in his usual piss poor manner. It was a stupid thing to say.

If the complaints had been left to that, I would not disagree.
As usual, they went bat crazy.

Beyond weak and you know it.
My Grandmother had a black man marry her granddaughter. Guess how ok with it she was.
Wouldn’t even meet the kids.

It’s ok to be a bigot as long as you’re trying to get them to vote for you.
He repeated an anti-semitic slur. Given the opportunity to take it back he instead doubled down.
You want to give him the benefit of the doubt, fine. Would you offer it to Omar or Tlaib? Would you ■■■■■

Trump doesn’t meet with his grand-kids?
Do you believe Tlaiban would remove Israel as a country if she could?

I added to it.
I don’t know what the goalpost is.
Yes they are, doesn’t necessarily make them racists.
