since the government cant regulate churches anymore i guess rastafarians are free to smoke dope.

It can be. Mostly they’re leaders.

Absolutely.

AFAIK, they haven’t imposed different restrictions. They have recognized that social, philosophical clubs are differently essential than food stores and medical offices.

No…it’s different.

This is the unique hubris of those that think they’re enlightened and special but are not.

The ones of which certain types of leaders take full advantage.

How has the recognition of “differently essential” manifested itself?

In NY, the former portion you speak of has been categorized as “nonessential”, not “differently essential”. Words mean things.

They are not in your opinion. It is not unique.

They’re called leaders.

It’s not my opinion.

The virtue signalers who wear fatigues with AR15s while they attend rallies for haircuts are pretending they’re in the Vanguard Of the Fight Against Tyranny.

These folks are not leaders…any more than the grubby unwashed 99%ers were.

They are the exact opposite of leaders.

Of course it’s your opinion.

Why don’t you tell us what you really think.

I think I just did.

That’s not close to true.

During a pandemic? Sure.

You could say the same about concert venues.

Pass me my fainting couch and then my laptop so I can post online ferociously about how bad life is because thats all I will do. Bitch and moan online behind an anonymous name.

clergy speaking out against trump’s lame pandering.

Yep. Why not have a giant religious music festival right now? Coachella of gospel.

Get back to me when anyone shows people in churches wearing masks are at higher risk from death from Covid than unmasked people in church were of dying from the flu during flu season.

0 is different than 1.
And here in CA, as I suspect also in NY, essential is being determined in a non-binary fashion for phased re-opening.

Power, sewer, water
Gas Stations
Auto Mechanics, home repair
ISP’s, TV & radio stations
grocery stores, drive thru restaurants
delivery services
book stores, churches, parks (different than play equiptment)
all the way down to car dealerships and insurance offices. Different things have different levels of essentialness.

But the OP wasn’t about the relative essentialness of churches, but whether the constitution allows government to impose health & safety standards (social distancing, face masks) on churches.

I haven’t heard of any historic support for the notion that churches are exempt from health and safety standards. It is constitutional to require that a church have fire extinguishers handy.

Ok. Until then, you wait right here.

Reasonable restrictions, nothing reasonable about restricting people who aren’t infected. You can’t go there or do that you’ll spread the disease, well, I don’t have it so how does that work? Test me, and if you get a positive then you will have a reason to curtail my rights.
