Trump’s suspension of payroll tax: righting a socialist evil imposed by democrat leaders

Pay attention? Enjoy conversing with yourself.

“Pay attention”? Your phrase, not mine. You need to read what is written instead of ad libbing it.

As it is we’ve spent far more and much of it isn’t even traceable and there has already been evidence of gross negligence, fraud, and abuse with some of the million plus dollar payouts to businesses.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when we heard “It’s no worse than the flu”. The argument changed as deaths surpassed the flu.

So, aside from all that, what do you guys think about suspending the payroll tax, [the topic of the thread] one of the most evil taxes imposed by the socialist/communist democrat Party Leadership?

If, by calling a tax indirect when it is essentially direct, the rule of protection [apportionment] could be frittered away, one of the great landmarks defining the boundary between the nation and the states of which it is composed, would have disappeared, and with it one of the bulwarks of private rights and private property. POLLOCK v. FARMERS’ LOAN & TRUST CO., 157 U.S. 429 (1895) JUSTICE FULLER

stop spending then

Why are you so upset over allowing laboring class citizens (your store clerk, auto mechanic, waitress, truck driver, butcher, baker, etc.,) being free from a notoriously evil federal tax imposed by the socialist/communist democrat leaders, which robs them of the property they have earned by the sweat of their labor?

When it comes to healthcare, our socialist candidate, Joe Biden, has no moral compass whatsoever. He refuses to make the distinction between CHARITABLE GIVING and tax tyranny to support the healthcare needs of illegal entrants.

H1N1 is “The Flu”.

It killed 665,000 of 105,000,000 Americans in 1918.

Why have you posted tax protester nonsense in response to a proposal to suspend a notoriously evil tax [the Victory Tax of 1943] imposed by the communist/socialist inspired Democrat Leadership, which robs the property ordinary working people [your store clerk, auto mechanic, waitress, truck driver, butcher, baker, etc.] have earned by the sweat of their labor?

And why do you post inaccurate information regarding the meaning of a direct tax, as it appears in our Constitution?

Just curious! Why has the proposal to suspend this evil tax set you off as it has?

I’d rather see the PPP program doubled down on. That program keeps people employed. When the first round of loans dries up - which should be soon - UE is going to tick up again.

No it’s not. H1N1 is a strain of “Swine Flu” which is not the seasonal influenza A and B. They are different.

Oh? I didn’t know early in the epidemic when you and others were comparing this to the seasonal flu that you in reality were comparing it to the Spanish Flu.

Correction noted.

What does that have to do with the merits of suspending the notoriously evil payroll tax on a working person’s earned wages?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims to be an advocate for hard working people living in the Bronx. If that is so, why is she not advocating an end to the unconstitutional “Temporary Victory Tax” of 1943, which began federal confiscation of the property which working people have earned by the sweat of their labor?

I was correcting Wild Rose.

Every life is sacred! Sometimes!

Rose, is there data on those who are infected but facing long and even life altering health issues? Although the death rate is a good number to study, it is not the only number. I have a family member on 4th month of this thing. Is in a support group of ‘long haulers’ who cannot get better. There are 5,000 members.

I’d like to see these numbers included in all formal studies. Without comprehensive numbers it’s difficult to have strong opinions.

My understanding only that portion of the payroll tax that funds Social Security and Medicare is proposed to be suspended. But the shortfall in the trust funds would be covered from the Treasury’s general fund, which is funded by income taxes that will not be suspended.

For most people, income taxes are collected by deduction your check. For people like myself, we pay quarterly.

You presumably propose to do away with the income tax across the board.

If you want to screw the very poor people you claim to be supporting, that would be the way to go.

What happens when you deep six the Federal Government’s biggest revenue stream???

They will go looking for a replacement.

Most likely either a VAT or a National Sales Tax.

Under the current system, many people pay ZERO tax to the Federal Government and many people get a NET payment from the Federal Government in the form of the Earned Income Tax Credit, etc. Most people in the lower brackets pay very minimal tax in comparison to their total income.

On the other hand, people like myself write massive checks to the IRS four times a year and smaller fifth one with their reconciliation form (1040). I write 5 figure checks four times a year, each check constituting more than the yearly gross income of many people.

And I am in that zone of being wealthy, but not super rich. Paying the highest marginal rate possible.

Bottom line, I am one of the few people on this board who has any legitimate reason to gripe about payroll taxes.

But I understand that National Sales Taxes and VATs screw over the very poor people you claim to support. An income tax lets the poor off the hook, in many cases COMPLETELY off the hook.

So I am not set off as you might think.

Not a bit.

I just think deep sixing the income tax is silly when the alternative who actually screw over the poor, who pretty much get a free ride under the current system.

I agree. As ever a very well reasoned point of view

What’s better? The only thing that breaks the system is the horrendous tax cuts for the rich and spending.
It’s like buying everything on a credit card.

Jeeze

Keep your filthy socialist hands off my Medicare!

I explained what could happen if the payroll tax imposed on working people’s paychecks were suspended. Did you miss what I wrote? I suggested:

One final note. Suspending the payroll tax does not mean a loss of federal revenue. The revenue lost could be made up under a just type of tax___ a one or two percent luxury tax imposed on specifically selected articles of luxury, which is a voluntarily paid type of tax and allows, as Hamilton points out:

”The amount to be contributed by each citizen will in a degree be at his own option, and can be regulated by an attention to his resources. The rich may be extravagant, the poor can be frugal; and private oppression may always be avoided by a judicious selection of objects proper for such impositions. “ ___ Federalist No. 21
