And I most certainly would, I’m around kids at work all the time. (walmart) They aren’t wearing masks most of the time. Their parents are, but the kids generally are not.

What we know.

Your contact with kids at Walmart is fleeting. Minimal in respect to time. We know the greater the length of time with some one the greater chance of passing it on.
Density. How many people are within 100 sq feet of you at any time. In a classroom you can’t even get 6 feet in a typical classroom. My wife’s desks are four feet at best.

She is exposed to these kids for at least six hours a day. Are you exposed to the same kids 6 hours a day? Doubtful.

This disease spreading is dependent on proximity, length of exposure, and amount of viral material in a cough or sneeze.

None of which you encounter in your job at Walmart…but my wife will encounter in her class room daily.

The slope of the line through the origin is the death rate per capita. The steeper the slope (which pulls the circle further to the left of the graph), the higher the per capita death rate. The US has a higher death rate per capita than any country other than UK, Spain, France and Italy (this graph is a month old which is why it doesn’t jibe with what Jezcoe put on there).

Now what the graph doesn’t show is almost every other country got out of their first wave. We still haven’t.

So under no metric can our response be said to have been “stellar”.

This is a drug given to tens of millions of patients every year for more than sixty years for treatment of other diseases particularly malaria.

Mistakes get made…or in some cases it’s not that mistakes get made, it’s that it’s neither ethical nor practical to run studies the way they need to be run to determine efficacy.
