In my opinion, that interview established intent for obstruction of justice.
Maybe Trump can ask for the tape from NBC News, stomp it to smithereens, and destroy the evidence.

There’s also that Woodward book coming soon that i’m guessing Trump knows is going to be bad for him.

He probably just had a conversation with his lawyers, where he said there’s no collusion, and they said, Well, there’s also the possibility of conspiracy or obstruction, and he said, Where? What? How many crimes are there anyway? Everyone is saying that there’s nothing there, and one of them murmured, Well you did sort of cop to obstruction on live TV, which sent his twitter thumbs a-flailing.
I don’t believe anything Trump says or tweets. That doesn’t mean that literally everything he says is a lie, but he lies so often that everything he says has to be checked and double checked.

Yeah the Lester Holt interview could easily end up as an “Exhibit A”.
Seems a bit late to try and discredit it though, he’s never made a peep about it before has he?
The Lester Holt interview is one of the main reasons why there’s a Mueller investigation.
It’s been about a year and a half after that interview and ONLY NOW he makes this claim?
It’s pretty obvious that Trump got some unpleasant news regarding Mueller’s obstruction inquiry. And by unpleasant, I mean bad news for Trump.

I find it interesting that he tweeted about this in the middle of his tweet storm this morning that also included a change in the narrative regarding McGahn leaving the administration. The last 24 hours were spent by the administration claiming that the departure was long planned and mutual and that McGahn had made the decision to leave. But this morning, Trump changed that up and claimed it was his decision to send McGahn packing.
I’m wondering if the two issues are related. Trump was told that McGahn helped to confirm some of their fears to Mueller, that Trump was actively, behind the scenes, attempting to obstruct justice. Placing the legal jeopardy facing him very much front and center.

I never saw him twit about the Holt interview before.
You know, it’s odd. Intent with some crimes can be hard to prove. A fellow sure can make it easier by stating on live television exactly what his intent was.
That’s the sort of admission that’s difficult to explain away.
Trump: There’s no collusion!
Lawyer: Yes, you’re right, boss. Nice hair.
Trump: And Cohen doesn’t have what they thought he had!
Lawyer: Yup yup.
Trump: And no obstruction!

I wonder if McGahn said something about the Lester Holt interview to Mueller, etc. So Trump is trying to run offense and start saying he didn’t say things he’s on video saying.
Yeah the timing is definitely odd. Unless he confused the Holt interview with something else? Can’t think what that could be though.
And the departure has been known about for months via leaks, Trump just seems to like to be appear to be the one doing the dismissals. He phoned me, I fired him etc etc.
But you’re right the two could definitely be linked.
