The question is…where did he get this notion? Certainly not from Fox and Friends. Not from reading it any book. Not from his foreign policy team. Not from anybody else in the US. The only one pedaling that idea is current day Russia, who are looking to rewrite the history books. So, where would Trump have gotten this crazy idea from?

The Wall Street Journal’s Editorial Board has lashed out, saying it cannot ‘recall a more absurd misstatement of history by an American president.’

His falsehoods about allies and the Soviets reach a new low.

Among his eye-opening Wednesday statements, Trump ridiculed other nations’ commitment to fight alongside U.S. troops following the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

“They tell me a hundred times,” Trump said. “‘Oh, we sent you soldiers. We sent you soldiers.’”

The Journal’s editorial called Trump’s mocking words “a slander against every ally that has supported the U.S. effort in Afghanistan with troops who fought and often died.” In fact, the U.K. sent thousands of soldiers to the country between 2001 and 2014 and has—to date—lost more than 450 people in the fighting in Afghanistan.

Trump also said, during that meeting, that “the reason Russia was in Afghanistan [in 1979] was because terrorists were going into Russia” and that “they were right to be there.”

In response, the opinion piece said it could not “recall a more absurd misstatement of history by an American president” and noted that the Soviet Union, in fact, invaded Afghanistan “to prop up a fellow communist government.”

Yesterday the President was ad libbing about historic conflicts and for the portion involving Afghanistan he went on to invent a history where the USSR was being attacked by foreign Aghan terrorists and was right to invade, which is a totally ignorant distortion of history and annoys all Afghans, whether Taliban or not. He even seems to suggest that India and Pakistan duke it out over Pakistan because they are ‘there’. Good idea?

Yeah…maybe he doesn’t understand that if India and Pakistan “duke it out”, nuclear weapons will almost certainly be used, and even a small exchange on their part will have global economic and climate implications.

And if anyone thinks MAD will work with India and Pakistan? They nearly had a nuke war in the 90s.
