Was a rather harsh sentence… Martha Stewart next. She was put in jail to show the Obama admins ruthless use of power.

Obama’s power must have been extraordinary, because she went to jail in 2004 and was released in 2005.

Trump is normalizing pay to play as a message to Cohen, who is neck deep in pay to play.

The most messed up part of this is not the pardon, it is the reaction from his supporters. We know what the reaction would have been had a President Hillary Clinton done this. Even a President Rubio or Cruz would have faced stiff headwinds from their own.

Trump has shown he is able to make his followers believe almost anything. This is a new bar. And it is at such a level that it makes one legitimately where his supporters’ willingness to follow him stops. Think how many other 180 degree turns he can get out of his supporters.

The stopping point is well past dangerous to the Republic and he is free to take them there.

Yeah, I know counterfactuals are silly, but you’re correct: imagine the reaction from the right had Hillary Clinton or Obama seriously floated this idea–especially as when Blagojevich was going on trial, the right and the GOP were convinced that Obama was up to his neck in this scandal.
