No, I am not.

Well he did believe it last month. That’s why I said we should ask him “how its done” last month. Glad I brought it to your attention.

Can I change how I voted?

If you have not yet returned your ballot, you can change how you voted. Follow the instructions included with your ballot. Once you have put your ballot in the mail or official drop box it is considered cast and cannot be changed.

So yes, you can change it before you cast.

Apparently Oregon only votes by mail. There it would not be possible to do what the President suggested.

However:

What is a Provisional Ballot and why do I need one?

If there is a question about your eligibility as a voter or you need to vote at a county elections office in a county other than the one you live in, you will be issued a provisional ballot. In order to obtain a provisional ballot, you need to fill out a Provisional Ballot Request Form in person at the county elections office. Your provisional ballot will not be counted until it is determined that you are eligible to vote.

If you already voted, you are no longer eligible to vote.

“Once you have put your ballot in the mail”

That answers my question, thanks. So in short, if you’ve already mailed in your ballot (i.e. voted) you can’t use a provisional ballot to vote again. Glad we cleared that up. Now someone should tell the President.

One problem I see is overwhelming the polling station. Capacity would presumably be based on past experience and turnout prediction which in turn would be based on the historical blend of regular voters (first vote, properly registered) and irregular voters (lost absentee, registration anomaly, etc…)

Overwhelming the polling place with unplanned irregular voters could exhaust capacity quickly and create waits for regular voters.

If this is the case I doubt it is illegal, but it could suppress the turnout of regular voters in that district.

Provisional ballots are acceptance of the ballot until eligibility can be confirmed. Yes, that is what they are for.

If you vote more than once, they will accept it provisionally. When they determine what you did, you will be contacted.

You will not be able to vote twice with your own name.

The President didn’t say anything about mailing in two ballots.

Eligibility isn’t in question if you get a ballot in the mail. They’re literally only mailed to eligible voters.

I’d love to see your evidence.

Of course it can be. What happens if you forget to sign the envelope for example?

That has to be another misspeak of Donald’s. He has said many things in the past that have gotten others in trouble and this is yet another one. Someone will correct it for him.

Doesn’t make you an ineligible voter. Just makes the ballot invalid. Just like someone else signing my ballot wouldn’t make me ineligable as a voter. Doesn’t work that way. Sorry.

How are trumpsters spinning this?

It makes your ballot provisional until you correct it within 14 days.

Well that actually isn’t what will happen, if you vote by mail and in person and don’t say anything, you’ve committed felony voter fraud. If you tell them you already voted by mail, they will tell you you can’t cast an in-person vote.

What do you think happens if they mistakenly send you two ballots and you send them both in?

And if the voter is notified, the system is working. If they aren’t it gets tossed and the system is working. Where’s the fraud again?

I didn’t say anything about fraud. Again constructing narratives.

The system also notifies if you vote by mail and then go to the poll.

Where’s the fraud?

Constructing narratives? The president voiced concerns of fraud with mail in voting. I’m not seeing it. How is that constructing a narrative? If anything that seems more like deconstructing one.

Yep. That’s what I’m saying. Glad we’re on the same page.
