And the answer is, as I have stated numerous times on this thread and others, that Pres Trump was wrong to fire her McEntarfer. He should have ordered her to change BLS’s methods now, not at the next regularly scheduled change.
Why put in the effort to change the methodology when you can appoint someone who will give you the numbers you want? That has the added benefit of having a person as a scapegoat rather than data or methods.
Well I think the proof in the pudding will be if the guy makes moves to change how the statistics are done.
If he doesn’t, I think that throws the accuracy of all of his numbers into question.
As long as those changes are transparent and reproducible I agree. I’m concerned one or both of those won’t occur. Another option is to simply not get any numbers. I’m not sure if that’s better or worse than inaccurate numbers short term. Easily worse in the long run.
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s pick to run the Bureau of Labor Statistics was among the crowd outside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, with the White House saying he was a “bystander” who wandered over after seeing coverage on the news.
I sincerely hope the left spends all its time energy and ammo on stopping this man.
Meanwhile America will be watching next month’s jobs report and asking something like
“So how big will the revisions be? 90% of what they are reporting now, or just 80%?”
and
“How is the Fed supposed to make a decision based on this ‘preliminary’ data?”
As I have said many times before I think he should have told McEntarfer to update the methods (multiplier) now instead of at the next regularly scheduled update.
Yes, thats the problem, isn’t it? That crowd was apparently just Antifa and FBI, neither which is a suitable candidate for compiling unemployment numbers.
