I cant attest to this personally because I wasn’t even alive. I would say the 40’s, America came together and won the 2nd world war. I love reading about this period. I think it really captures the American spirit. Here you have America wanting to keep to itself, the depression hits and devastates the entire nation. Germany is marching across Europe and roosevelt wanting to get involved but cant. That is until pearl harbor. We got hit hard. That didnt matter though because America awakened. Our country was one.

I believe the decline was hippies. Again not being alive yet, but watching footage of these kids doing good knows what. Except for music, they seem to have a talent for some great music. Maybe all of that lsd.

America was great when we back when our armed forces were segregated and Kim crow laws where in effect?
It went downhill when hippies along with other protested an unfair war and used civil disobedience to get the civil Rights amendment passed?

Was America great during Jim Crow? Simple yes or no. If no then when was it last great?

oh it took a lot to win WW2 not the least of which was the cooperation of many countries and the sacrifice of millions of soviet troops. Claiming america was great because it won a war is a ridiculous oversimplification but bring the “learning curve” is just hilarious.

One cannot ignore history and the conditions of millions of US citizens and still reasonably state America was great.
Either it was great Including segregation, Jim Crow, Internment camps or it wasn’t. Was america great for blacks yes or no?
