What’s idiotic about trying to buy all of the immense resources of Greenland out from under Denmark? Global warming you know. All of that ice is going to be gone in less than 12 years, right? (Sooner, if he sells the ice to the Arabs. )

And you might want to ask yourself; why do they belong to Denmark in the first place.

An idea of buying Greenland in and of itself isn’t really bonkers. Thing is I don’t know how likely it is since it isn’t for sale.

Okay I can accept that an unsolicited offer to buy a van Gogh painting is reasonable. I don’t accept that suggesting that Denmark should sell Greenland to the USA is reasonable. Has there been any indication that Denmark is considering selling Greenland? Have the occupants of Greenland been consulted about that possibility?

Who is suggesting that Denmark should sell ? He is just musing that he’d like to buy. Obviously Denmark doesn’t have to sell if they aren’t interested.

WASHINGTON—President Trump made his name on the world’s most famous island. Now he wants to buy the world’s biggest.

The idea of the U.S. purchasing Greenland has captured the former real-estate developer’s imagination, according to people familiar with the deliberations, who said Mr. Trump has, with varying degrees of seriousness, repeatedly expressed interest in buying the ice-covered autonomous Danish territory between the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans.

In meetings, at dinners and in passing conversations, Mr. Trump has asked advisers whether the U.S. can acquire Greenland, listened with interest when they discuss its abundant resources and geopolitical importance, and, according to two of the people, has asked his White House counsel to look into the idea.

Some of his advisers have supported the concept, saying it was a good economic play, two of the people said, while others dismissed it as a fleeting fascination that will never come to fruition. It is also unclear how the U.S. would go about acquiring Greenland even if the effort was serious.

He can’t even take care of his existing islands. I wouldn’t trust him with another.

Trump said that “strategically it’s interesting and we’d be interested, but we’ll talk to them a little bit.” While he acknowledged that “first we have to find out whether or not they have any interest,” he said that, “they’re losing a tremendous amount of money, so we’ll see what happens.”

Trump says he's still interested in buying Greenland. Denmark says it's not...

Perhaps you are able to explain the apparent contradiction between the Russians contemporaneously interfered with and didn’t interfere with the USA election in 2016? Also, the apparent paradox between the Russian’s interference in the elections and Republicans claiming their was no such interference?

Yes it does sound nuts. I could use an Aussie saying but I think I had better use a more genteel one. It is putting the cart before the horse. Surely the sensible thing to do would be quietly and discreetly out of the pubic arena gauge to see if there was a possibility that Denmark would be interested in the deal. If they are not, then you don’t say anything publicly at all.
