Trump is the third party

He has done nothing of the sort.

I swear so many MAGAs and Trump supporters make the easiest marks.

You realize behind the scenes, the Trump Administration realizes what a mess DOGE has created and is working quietly but frantically behind the scenes to try and fix it.

You know one of the biggest reasons why?

Because Musk’s minions used poorly coded AI to identify “fraud and waste”, and since his minions had zero government experience, they didn’t realize the AI was faulty and identifying as “waste” things that actually made the government go?

But I swear, Trump says it and you unflinchingly believe it.

And when he says the exact opposite two week later, you still unflinchingly believe it.

$102 million in extra travel and security expenses spent this year by Trump;

$45 million military birthday parade;

$200 billion more in Trump’s first 100 days compared to the same time period last year….

Yep. Story checks out. Gubmit waste is totally being reined in.

No he hasn’t.

No he isn’t.

Not in the slightest.

Yes he has…as always you’re out of touch.

Another way of saying the same thing is that Trump transformed the Republican caucus of the uniparty into an actual second party.

For decades before Trump, elections were about giving the appearance of democracy. The faces could change, but the policies remained essentially the same.

Of course the massive subversion of the legal system and multiple assassination attempts show that there are powerful dark forces that are fighting to remove Trump. They have not gone away. The fight continues.

Hard to say. For sure FDR. He was pretty left for his time period. Since then they’ve mostly been corporatist agents of the existing system.

Truth is we’ve never had a truly left president. There was a time in the early 20th century where you had guys like Eugene Debbs, actual leftists (socialists, and he wasn’t the only one) trying to get the big chair and they had a surprising amount of support. Because the truth that people don’t want to acknowledge today is that when you look at the entire World War I generation, most of them would be considered socialists in outlook today. Basically guys like my great grandfather (born in 1896) were far more “left” on economic matters than people living today.

But then Russia happened in 1917 and freaked everyone out, even most leftists. Popular leftism, which was making enormous strides throughout WWI, sort of died with what the Bolsheviks pulled in the former Russian Empire.

One of the fundamental differences between true leftists and true conservatism is that the the system is inherently immoral and must be reformed from the top down. What we have today is this weird thing going on between political groups who both mostly agree on wanting to preserve the current system. That whole generation born from 1890-1905 wanted to tear down existing systems and replace them. That is true leftism. I don’t know what we call what we have today.

So funny.

He has two of them on his cabinet.

:rofl:

Pretty good assessment.

I think this transformation has been rather unintentional.

Trump has steered the Titanic away from the iceberg for now.

:sunglasses:

This post reads like a little Golden Book Fairy Tale.

:rofl:

Back to an Oligarchy similar to the late 1800’s. Until TR, government did not regulate businesses that much, and money heavily influenced the system. Many laws were passed, and curbed that to a point. Then Pubs got back in charge and caused the Great Depression. FDR was able to reverse a lot of the damage, and after WW2 those policies worked quite well for the middle class.

In the 1980’s, the goal was to reverse FDR and LBJ Policies. Sadly, they are getting close to that goal.

The problem is that many of the crew are ignoring the orders from the captain.

Instead they are instead looking to throw him overboard and keep the ship on course towards the iceberg.
