A big stick doesn’t mean military conquest or even the threat of military conquest. It can be anything from tariffs, to sanctions, or whatever.

The U.S. has its own special interests, as does every other country. It is rare that those special interests conflict with our allies. But occasionally they do, as we have just seen with Mexico and the crises at our border. Trump effectively used his big stick to get Mexico’s attention.

That is the real world. Obama’s appeasement and subservience to other countries made us weaker, not stronger.

That was an actual treaty signed with broad bipartisan support. It was an arms reduction treaty, having nothing to do with preventing Russia from obtaining nuclear weapons.

We are actually talking apples and oranges.

Obama’s Iran agreement was just that. It belonged solely to Obama. It was a grossly flawed agreement that had virtually no support in the U.S. outside of his administration.

Verification is pretty much impossible, as they get to pick the date and time of inspections, as well as which facilities we can inspect. Much of the verification is done by them sending monitoring results. It is a farce.

I know quite a bit about it, as a matter of fact.

A clandestine nuclear program cannot be hidden away in advance of an inspection like a company trying to hide violations from safety auditors.

It’s why the IAEA can be so certain Iran never breached the agreement (until just recently, of course).

We have plenty of ways of detecting nuclear weapons activity without having to have physical access to nuclear sites…and are developing more and better detection methods every day.
