Not at all. But grandstanding, pretending to be “tough”, plays into Putin’s hands.

An intelligent leader would have done it behind the scenes.

We have military bases on their land, yes I agree they should meet their “commitments” but it’s more bustle then substance the US is not giving up its military foothold in the world.

lol… “intelligent” leaders have been trying for decades. how’d that work? trump got it done.

so what? they still have to meet their commitments. as i recall when the subject of redepolying troops out of germany into poland came up it was germany that had a hissy. apparently the economic impact of removing them would cost them money… so let them pay.

He sure did, Putin has never been more emboldened.

No. He was a “trade with all, entangling alliances with none” guy.

Alliances were the gears of the time bomb that began the hellish “war to end all wars” …WW1.

Well, that is kind of silly. NATO is an international alliance. If Russia kicks it off, it won’t matter if the victim states are socialist or not.

That was only one factor, and alliances have kept the peace in Europe througout history.

All in all: weak.

Like in WW2.

TPP was a trade agreement in part. All!

Such small, small thinking.

More accusations of myopic views from the everything about this one thing crowd.

Lack of understanding of geopolitics and 9 million ton gorillas.

Disagreement about geopolitics. What did Australia do with the void? Which country is more likely to fill the void

You don’t have to answer. The answer will be MAGA and America first. … of course

That’s of course not isolationist pfft

The US is not Australia, the US is the largest consumer market in the world.

Australia is not an Asian country.

China decides what happens in Asia. Not the US, not Australia, not Japan.

For example, what would keep the other nation members of TPP from voting China in after we signed it? Nothing.

How you think that this isn’t an isolationist stance is beyond my understanding. But i guess quite a few things are when it comes to how you guys arrive at your conclusions.

Why do you think an “isolationist stance” from China is bad?

Binary thinking.

There are degrees. And there is conditional isolationism. So long as MAGA is behind an interaction with a foreign country, I support it. And that bolded A in MAGA? In my version, it stands for Americans
