I get it. You want to see Pence go down. But I don’t think any legal mind thinks what Pence did is truly a prosecutable crime.

Are you now claiming it is not illegal to intentionally steal classified documents and hide them in your garage?
Because as a Senator he had no right to take those documents.
When Trump took his documents he was still President and had a right to take them.

To Trump? For sure. Trump has a willing Cadre of folks who go to his rallies, donate to him regularly and even tattoo his likeness on their bodies. They just need something plausible (if they choose not to do their own research, which they typically don’t) to rationalize it away. Deep state, blah blah blah. Presidents can declassify stuff, blah blah blah. Biden did it too! blah blah blah.
Politically for this to work, you need folks who are willingly cognitively dissonant, whose desires to win are more important than their desire to see Right over Wrong, or at least are fairly malleable on the subject.
Does it matter that not all documents CAN be declassified? DoD, Satellite stuff, names of spies, etc cannot ever be declassified. And he had them. If you actually declassify stuff, there is a process involved and it is documented somewhere. None of that here. To those who want to believe Trump, none of this matters.
They just want to win, and they think Trump is their best chance because he did it once before. Some Cons must think that losing the popular vote almost every time for the last 30 years means they need a special candidate to take the White House, and Trump is that guy, the guy willing to do anything to win.

Heres Pence’s case. Let me know if you agree or disagree with Pence here.
…
In January, Pence’s attorney found about a dozen documents marked classified in Pence’s Indiana home after the former vice president asked his lawyer to search his records following the disclosure of classified documents in Joe Biden’s possession in Delaware.
Pence turned over the classified records to the FBI following their discovery, and the FBI and Justice Department’s National Security Division launched a review of how they ended up at Pence’s home. Pence has said that he had been unaware the documents were at his home but said that “mistakes were made” and took responsibility for it.
Pence and his team were pleased but not surprised by the DOJ decision, a Pence adviser said.
Pence’s advisers say they felt the former vice president’s discovery of classified documents stood in stark contrast to Trump’s, both in terms of the original process Pence’s team followed when his documents were packed up at the end of the Trump administration – when a small number of classified papers were accidentally packed – and Pence’s immediate cooperation with the FBI and the National Archives.
While Pence’s attorney contacted the National Archives and quickly returned the documents to the FBI, Trump resisted turning over the classified documents in his possession, eventually leading to a subpoena last year and the court-authorized August 2022 FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Biden did not have a small number of classified documents.
Nor did Trump have boxes and boxes of classified documents as the DOJ tried to imply from showing those photos of boxes.
Only about a hundred documents we’re actually found to be classified.

Of course it is. But it would be nearly impossible for the government to prove he “stole” anything, let alone even taking them intentionally.
What makes you say that?

So do you agree with Pence or no?

Of course it wouldn’t be nearly impossible. If a bank clerk worked for two different banks and piles of money from both banks were found in his garage we would have proof enough.

Yeah he did- about ten I believe. Pence had something close to that as well.

I am not on his jury. His case is less obvious than either Trump or Biden. Still, he knew to have those documents pulled?

Weird. Aren’t you saying he should be prosecuted for illegally having classified documents?

No, that’s not “proof enough” - even in your ridiculous hypothetical.
Among other things, you’d have to prove he didn’t just withdraw the money from his own accounts.

I cannot find where the DOJ has released the exact number of classified documents held by Biden. I did, however, find this:
“The FBI found more classified documents at the Wilmington, Delaware, home of President Joe Biden during a consensual search Friday that lasted nearly 13 hours, his personal lawyer and a prosecutor said Saturday evening
The discovery was the fourth time since November that classified records or material has been found at a private address of Biden’s.”

Oh please. Such standing up for Biden against all evidence, And you’re childish use of emojis really isn’t helping your case.
It’s important to keep in mind that you all are better equipped to be Trump’s legal counsel than the actual lawyers he’s retained and your grasp of the facts is, uh, tenuous at best.

This is a political forum. We are not trying a case here.

But if I don’t use emojis, how will you know how much I’m laughing at you?
You don’t even see the irony, do you?

Right, I’m saying that you here arguing about it on a political forum would be a more competent lawyer in real life to defend Trump than the clowns he has actually retained. Go take a look at these dudes.

Well, some of us are actually trying to discuss the case.
I do understand that you’re more interested discussing your feelings about how unfair it all is to Trump.
