I thought it was to get rid of those “U’s”. Then we could say cool things like…
“Sir, there is no “U” in honor and there is no honor in you.” - King George hated that one.
I think the best part is that it creates a 2000 mile job creation zone on both sides of the border. This could have the effect of creating a financial barrier to immigration. No need to sneak into the US…if you got a good job on your side of the border.
I see new towns just outside this energy zone…all up and down the border. With desalinated water on both east and west ends…fresh water for irrigation and farming all up and down the border.
Of course we know this will never see the light of day. Right?
The coal is the stored energy. Just sayin’.

American exceptionalism: “If it isn’t already in existence and operational, it can never be done”.
And I am being kind, since it is already in existence, AND operational.
I enjoy seeing flag hugging MAGA supporters contort themselves in their depiction of America, depending on the topic.

So, again: why does Trump lie, say things that are patently false and/or idiotic? To make his idiot followers feel good?

Honest question:
What is the difference between someone who is always hyperbolic, and a pathological liar?

I have been consistent in my argument from my first post. It doesn’t matter who said what. The tone early on in this thread was that storage could make wind/solar power a continuous power source, and while that is theoretically true, it is not even close to being a reality. No amount of wriggling by you will change that what I have posted is accurate.

I am not playing semantics. I am an engineer; technical accuracy is imperative when discussing such things as energy generation and storage. Generators don’t store and storage is not generation. Its as simple as that. You might want to have a discussion with CanadianJudo. He is of your political ilk yet he seems to know a thing or two about electrical power generation and power grids. Maybe he can set you straight without the acrimony.
And no, I am not going to provide you with links. Every post made in this thread is available for the viewing by everyone.

Photovoltaic cells were invented in 1954. The kid gets sued for patent violations.
Besides, the sun still don’t shine 24/7. Are you suggesting a global power grid?

You are right. Westaussie is the one who lives and dies on the OED.

We are in the most rapid acceleration of battery technology in the history of the planet, driven by almost EVERY industry independently of “green” technology… and this is the hill you are going to die on?
That storage is an insurmountable barrier to renewable energy?
OK.

Yeah, you’ve been consistently wrong. lol.
[paraphrasing]
Samm: “You all are making the assertion that renewables are viable as a primary power source”
Me: “Huh? No one’s saying that in here. Feel free to point out where.”
Samm: “It doesn’t matter who said what specifically, but there’s a tone to these posts…”
Me: [smh] “Ok man… Ok”
I haven’t said anything you’ve posted is inaccurate, aside form the way you’ve ingenuously framed posters responses (mine included). And you continue to repeat the same things as though you’re teaching me something… the same things I’ve already stated to other posters.
So it was the “tone”… lol. Ok Samm…
Here you go again. No one was saying the energy is physically stored in the generators… that’s how batteries got involved in the discussion. Links were provided to other technologies as well. Stop being coy…
And I know you’re not going to provide links… I already pointed that out. Why? Because no one in this thread has made the claim that renewables are a viable primary power source, that’s why.
Enjoy your day Samm…

The problem is that with wind/solar you need more than double the generation capacity (beyond demand) to be able to draw from storage during low production and down times. Currently, the effective production period for wind and solar is well under 50% and storage comes at a cost not only in dollars, but also in efficiency. Lead acid batteries have only an 85% efficiency and even the best Li-ion batteries are at 99%. Is it an unsurmountable problem? I don’t know, but it is a very real problem nonetheless.

We called the horse dead ages ago, yet you keep beating it. Give it up man, you are embarrassing yourself.
lol. Ages ago? You responded to me 10 minutes ago.
Literally all you had to do was point to one of the posts in this thread you say exist. Then you win, you get to spike the ball, case is closed… it wouldve taken a couple of minutes tops, yet you’ve spent much more time responding in a manner that has inaccurately framed posters’ responses.
But you’ve read this thread and already know no one made that claim… no one even talked about it until you brought it up.

I know most people only see politics in black and white, but the conversation being had by all but the fringes is a combination of renewable and nuclear energy, and yes, fossil fuels to fill in the gaps, for the foreseeable future. No one is claiming they have all the answers, but that is not what the President’s comments are about…
The problem is that the President, and many who think like him, want to mock having a conversation at all… because it feeds his base the anti-intellectual red meat that seems to be on the menu the last couple decades.
