President Trump defended his new relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the White House Friday morning, telling a reporter that he’s pursuing the friendship because he “doesn’t want to see a nuclear weapon destroy you and your family.”
The President was speaking with journalists in the nation’s capital when he was asked how he could speak “passionately” about Otto Warmbier and “defend Kim Jong Un’s human rights record.”
“You know why? Because I don’t want to see a nuclear weapon destroy you and your family,” he fired back.
“I don’t want to see — excuse me — because I don’t want to see a nuclear weapon destroy you and your family,” Trump repeated. “I want to have a good relationship with North Korea. I want to have a good relationship with many other countries.”
