No. It’s called creating a story, so people will tune in.
Here is what is amazing…
With all of the advisors around Trump… none of them told him it would be a bad idea to support her at this time? Or did someone say something and Trump didn’t care?
Either way the optics of this is horrible

Some people said the same about South Carolina.
That’s not fair.
We’ve made progress in certain areas, even when it comes to race. Interracial marriages, despite lingering controversy among older citizens of the state, are increasingly common here. Economic progress has also been on the rise over the past decade, even though we still have far too many of our citizens (both white and black) living in poverty.
It’s slow going. And we have setbacks like Hyde Smith. But I think as the younger population takes the reigns things will continue to improve.

On both sides.
Whites vote for white candidates and blacks vote for black candidates. This happens all the time on the local level.
My home county elected our first black sheriff two years ago. It’s an evenly split county; roughly 50% white and 45% black. He won due to one white community swapping over; the incumbent sheriff was mired in a prisoner abuse scandal.
Maybe some better tell Trump not to bring his african american for this one…

The race is not close. Trump therefore does not need to campaign for her beyond a tweet or two about her being strong on the same stuff he says about everyone with an R after their name.
But he loves rallies. He loves adulation. This is not about Hyde Smith, it’s about Trump wanting people to worship him.

Yep. Trump is completely unwilling to turn down the chance to do a rally.
And your proof of this racism is what? Never mind, you’ll just make it up as you go.

Barring the racial component what she said was still unacceptable.
There’s a history here involving the noose that isn’t pretty. We had ALOT of lynchings and mob “justice” in Mississippi up until the 1960s. It’s a part of the state’s history that shouldn’t be minimized or joked about.

I agree that it’s controversial, it’s certainly not something I’d ever say. Not because it’s racist, but because executing someone by hanging is a horrible thing, and not something to joke about.
The answer is obvious to everyone. Well, almost.

I completely agree. What I don’t get is why the governor appointed her. I get that he wanted a woman, maybe to add a tiny bit more balance to the Senate, but why her? Couldn’t he find someone much more capable and who wouldnt offend so many?
Coincidentally, areas like that are where Trump does his best work.
Of course, that’s not really setting the bar all that high, but still…

Hyde-Smite is at the front of that train.

I don’t think he thought that far ahead.
Phil Bryant has been good for the economy but on social and cultural issues he’s stepped in too many easy to stay out of holes.
