OK, I figured it was something like that.

But if anyone is going to break a custom, it’s Trump.

Maybe Trump should just nominate someone (and maybe the most conservative nominee he can find) and McConnell should indicate fast-tracking him/her. Trump should say, “In the absence of the CA Senators submitting blue slips, I have simply made my own selection here…”

Perhaps it would shake some things loose. If not, then the nominee goes forward and that’s that.

He was talking about the specific CA issue as it stands now. McConnell hasn’t had anything to do with it. Yet. He can’t.
