…and reiterates, he won’t help allies against an invasion from Russia.
Putin must be laughing in delight right now.
“I didn’t know what the hell NATO was too much before,” Mr. Trump told cheering supporters. “But it didn’t take me long to figure it out, like about two minutes. And the first thing I figured out was they were not paying. We were paying, we were paying almost fully for NATO. And I said that’s unfair.”
He went on to repeat a story that he told in February to the shock of world leaders, claiming that as president he had warned his NATO counterparts that he would not defend them if they did not increase their own military spending. “‘Would you protect us?’” Mr. Trump quoted another leader whose country did not meet the spending target as saying. “I said, ‘No, I will not protect you from Russia.’”
Yeah…enforcing the NATO rules to our NATO allies equates to a lib mindset, Trump doesn’t know about NATO. Excellent, excellent discernment lib. Carry on with your brilliance.
Did they pay up? The answer is yes. Trump got the job done.
Now…do you know the difference between actions and words? When poo-poo in this world is hitting the fan, is it in our best interests to have powerful allies or not?
I thought ALL libs believe Trump is a liar but in this case, you CHOOSE to believe his exact words? Why is that? Lemme guess…eeni, meenie, mynie, moe…
Well, if Trump wants to make sure the country is paying at least 2 percent of GDP on Defense before he abides by the NATO agreement, there’s good news!!!(???)!!
When he left office only 9 of 33 member states were doing that, but since Biden took office 23 of 33 are putting in at LEAST 2 percent, many for significantly more. Biden did a fine job, here!
If they don’t care enough about their own security to fund their own defence, why should a nation an ocean away defend them from their enemies. Especially when they are trying to undermine the administratikn they are hoping will help them ?
Actually it was a piece of information with an attached opinion as to who was responsible. The trigger for the change was the Russians attacking Ukraine. It caused the rest of NATO to make an honest assessment of their military readiness. They don’t like what they see of their own readiness and are forced to change priorities in their spending.
