Albuquerque has joined a lengthy list of U.S. cities with a simple request: that President Trump’s campaign pay for the costs incurred during a rally. On Wednesday, the Albuquerque Journal reported that the city sent an invoice to Trump’s reelection campaign in an effort to recoup more than $211,000 in expenses from a September rally. That figure includes more than $71,000 in police overtime.
The Trump campaign’s indifference to municipal bills became a significant issue earlier this month when the city of Minneapolis attempted to get paid in advance for a rally Trump was planning to hold in the city. The president and his campaign publicly berated Minneapolis’s mayor. But even then it was easy to see why a city would want Trump’s team to pay in advance.
Couldn’t even fill the seats in the Lawrence Convention Center here a few days ago and seriously, it’s not all that big compared to something like the Javits.
Maybe this is what the hundreds of thousands of dollars Giuliani was talking about on his butt-dial are for. He’s just trying to pay outstanding campaign bills!

I think localities should be able to charge upfront based on planned services. The amount is then placed in a bond or escrow account prior to the event taking place.
Once the event is done charges are paid and any residual is returned to the campaign.
Taxpayers should not be stiffed for campaign events.

The Trump campaign is not the only political group owing money to “cities”, venues or the authorities who manage the facilities etc. Don King as a fight promoter was taken to court on numerous occasions for the exact same thing.
But to your point, contracts are typically drawn in order to host events at convention centers, arenas etc. Violation of contractual obligations are settled in the courts, Unless this is a case of payment not catching up with an invoice with a “net 10 day” payment demand?
Take ‘em to court!
Yeah, comedy had a recession before Trump. I know you’re a poe for weird reasons, but I like this topic. Trump hurts comedy because its hard to parody and satire cause he’s insane. The Onion has talked about this. Real things Trump does would in normal times be satire articles. So how do you satirize the ridiculous. It’s tough.
