Studies on humor show that most jokes entail putting someone down for some attributed characteristic or foible. The left no longer does this as humor, but as serious powerplay. The centre and the right still understand and use humor. Which is why a Trump rally is light and uplifting and cheering, and Democrat rally is dark and funereal.
