President Trump called-out congressional Democrats for their flat-out refusal to negotiate a federal budget and re-open the government Thursday; saying Pelosi’s party has been “hijacked” by the “open-border fringe.”
“While many Democrats in the House and Senate would like to make a deal, Speaker Pelosi will not let them negotiate,” Trump said during a speech at the Pentagon.
“The party has been hijacked by the open-borders fringe within the party. The radical left becoming the radical Democrats. Hopefully, Democratic lawmakers will step forward to do what is right for our country, and what is right for our country is border security at the strongest level,” he added.
The President’s comments come hours after Speaker Pelosi urged the Commander-in-Chief to “delay” his State of the Union Address until both parties agree to a bipartisan budget deal.
