King was a big support of the “Sit in” movement it was very popular with black college student who would sit in at dinners.

Diners. Yeah, he was. Being a big supporter is not the same as doing it or even planning it.
People settle all the time.
I have settled disputes because to fight the dispute and win in court was going to cost me 10 times what they agreed to settle for.
According to the lawyer I needed to swallow my pride and think about the bottom line. Did not mean I was guilty. Just meant I would rather spend 10,000 and not 100,000.
I just wish Obama would have been more of an agitator during his last 4 years. He was so concerned with being liked by everyone that he didn’t use his platform to invoke real social change for black people. That is my main criticism of Obama… we may not ever get another black president again and it made no difference how nice he was.
I believe MLK would have been highly disappointed in that opportunity squandered away. Obama basically took the “safe” undertones of Kings messages and used it to get elected.
Trump is an agitator. He really doesn’t care if 100% of the people like him… he will troll troll troll.

President is not the platform for agitating. He’s free to do it now though.
Interesting, your comment about “safe undertone”. Very insightful.

Like what? What do you think Obama should have done?
You’re right. I edited it to be in my opinion.

Introspection. I like it.
2010 me would agree with you. 2020 me disagrees. You’ve said it… Trump doesn’t have to president for the people who didn’t vote for him. I kind of agree with that
To be even clearer… safe undertones for white liberals.

Black people voted for Obama, but you didn’t elect him.
And now we are in agreement.
By the way, I disagree that Trump agitates. He plays to the base sure, but he doesn’t draw first blood. He’s just crass when he strikes back.
Setup programs specifically targeting the black community. Agreed I’ve programs. Economic redevelopment programs. Job programs specifically targeting black communities.
Injecting capital into black communities to jump start black owned banks, for example.

You expected a President to target programs specifically at 14% of the population because they are the same race?
Sure. Hasn’t the opposite been true for 200+ years?
WuWei

No, it hasn’t. White people haven’t been 14% of the population.
I think your expectations were unrealistic.
Based on race? No.
Nothing in the quoted passage supports that.
He recognizes why people turn to violence, he isn’t endorsing or even excusing it.

@PurpnGold Good talk, I appreciate the civility.
Which is nothing but a deflection from the fact you were just dead wrong as usual.
Of course, that’s your usual tactic to avoid dealing with being wrong.
We don’t even have to look beyond Richmond.
So at 50.1% we should be able to target programs based on race?
I don’t think percentages matter… they surely didn’t matter when we were being discriminated against as a matter of government policy.
Obama should have went out with a bang and he was too busy trying to be “civil”.
