How the heck is the President going to establish a nationwide mask requirement? These policies have to be enforced and there is no national police force available to enforce a mask requirement. That police power belongs to the states. What, use the FBI to enforce a national mask policy?

We don’t know exactly what the Scientists recommended that was rejected by Trump/Pence.
Now it was reported that Birx might have been relaying on a model that was the most optimistic. I have heard multiple Epidemiologists say that multiple models showed a fairly wide range of cases and that over time they were able to drill down on a handful of models that were the most accurate. And if you look at those models going back to early April, the projections were more serious then the federal and states responses were.
