to how stupid this whole charade was paying people months to not work. Instill a hiring freeze. It’s what corporations do to tighten belts. Natural attrition will take care of itself.
It will surely be interesting to see the numbers was some analyitics can be done on the specific population to see the proprotions of retirement eligibile, mid-career, and early career breakouts.
Regardless of where this lands, the size of the Federal Government will have been reduced by some still to be determined amount. I see that as a good thing.
The problem is that the stuff Trump is doing to feed red meet to his base and payoff $270 Million*** from Musk is show, it take Congress to actually de-establish Departments they have budgeted for and authorized in the law.
With such narrow margins in the Senate and House, this ■■■■ show is likely to mean tranfer of control of Congress to the DEMs in 2026 and Trump being a Lame Duck from that point on. Then depending on how many American people he screws over, the Oval Office will be in play in 2028.

$270 Million to Trump and full access to all the financial data of the United States government, that sounds like a good return in investment.
We know there will be an upcoming giant bill. “One big beautiful bill,” as I heard Trump say in a clip. Will it be loaded with pork? What will Johnson allow? What will he have to accept to get it to pass?
The Libs will make it as difficult as possible, and the media will do their best to foment chaos. The whole thing will not be pretty.
And then when it’s done, Trump will veto the first bill.
No they, congress, wont see it. No matter their party. They are only in politics for themselves. Its something trump will have to watch out for. Some tough votes will be coming and lets just see who folds like a cheap suit.
I’m wondering if Trump sees the court rulings to push the deadline as a good thing. Otherwise, Trump might have been faced with anemic response given the short deadline. This allows him to extend the deadline gracefully.
With his other DOGE actions to reduce the government workforce, we might yet see more accepting the buyout. The alternative might be outright termination down the road.
