The Trump Administration has barred New York residents from the Global Entry Program in retaliation for state immigration policies.
This is a clear violation of the Constitutional guarantee that all citizens receive equal protection under the law?
It also is an excellent demonstration of a core belief of modern conservatism – that the government in Washington is better able to determine state and local policies than the local government.
Bad things happen when those who control the government have no respect for the Constitution.

I forsee absolutely zero problems will arise from this latest course of action…

Wonder where all the states rights conservatives will be on this.

In a letter to top New York state officials obtained exclusively by Fox News, Wolf noted that the New York law prohibited state DMVs from sharing criminal records with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Because TTPs rely on states to verify individuals’ identities, New York residents “will no longer be eligible to enroll or re-enroll” in select TTPs – including Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST.
It sounds like the Trump Administration is protecting all Americans from the sanctuary laws being applied by some Americans.
A more accurate title for this thread is that New York denies all Americans equal protection under their new law.

Is this a question or a statement?

Yes… because we know that all of those poor illegal immigrants use this and not very wealthy Wall Street people.
It is going to be fantastic.
Incorrect interpretation of the law. Equal protection applies to actions by government, not actions by citizens or undocumented aliens.
This is government dividing citizens into those who have certain rights and others who do not. No Constitutional basis for that at all.

Concentrate on this one word and maybe you’ll be able to focus on the truth.
Global entry is used by citizens who travel internationally. They are entitled to equal treatment under federal law. This has nothing to do with undocumented aliens who I assume would not be enrolled on Global Services.
You should not let your dislike of illegal immigration justify violating equal protection of citizens.

Oh I know.
The people who are going to be targeted are more wealthy people… not illegal aliens.
That is what is so funny.
The people who would more likely than not to give the President money for his re-election are the one’s who are going to be effected by this the most.
Don’t condescend. If you think something was untrue in what I posted, point it out… don’t just smugly hint at something that is not there.
I was talking about citizens receiving equal treatment and nothing else. Do you believe the federal government should divide citizens into those who have access to federal programs and those who do not solely on the basis of state of residence? How can you justify that Constitutionally?

You…should not approve of cities, states, politicians or anybody else who choose to ignore our laws…and get away with it. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW! Now…practice what you preach.
Really bad things happen when nit wits like Cuomo think it’s a good idea to allow illegal immigrants to obtain the driving license privilege in the state of NY.
Same place we are on abortion.

You are confusing government powers with individual rights. No citizen of New York is violating the law or acting like they are above the law. I am consistently preaching that CITIZENS are entitled to equal treatment… who am I failing to practice that?
If the Trump Administration took action against the state government (withholding funds for example) for failing to comply with federal requirements, I would be fine with that. What the Trump Administration is doing is subjecting private citizens to unequal treatment because of their residence. That is indefensible.

Yeah. Law abiding citizens get punished by the federal government.
You can disagree with state policy but that is government matter – to be changed in elections or interactions between government entities – not by punishing individual law-abiding citizens.
The more levers of government one gains control over the more one makes peace with big government being the answer.
What has happened to conservatives on this issue is a painful reminder how how power corrupts.

And liberals love their power too… just look at all the ■■■■■■■■ gun laws being fast-tracked through VA with no debate?
Isn’t our host a New York resident?
