It’s no longer a party of conservatism (if it ever was) or of Republicanism. It’s now wholly owned and operated as the party of Trumpism. The great cancer on our nation’s soul. The long term damage that they will wrought upon us all is untold and may take years, if not decades, to recover from.

There may be strategic defense reasons to keep some of these plants open. Like they have lots of excess capacity that can be used if other grid suppliers are knocked out.
Its a rather inefficient and unclean energy source that is just releasing more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Why did the earth warm out of the last 6 ice ages without industry? Interglacial warming periods are great. Be happy you live during one.
Why is it warming steadily more now than it did in the past? Why are hurricanes getting stronger? Why do you think producing a blanket that is trapping more heat as we emmit more co2 wont warm the earth? This whole defense of coal is an excuse.

Sorry but you guys have played this card so often and people look around and see everything getting better that the credibility of the left is shot.
That’s a big reason the dem lead in those generic polls has disappeared.
It was warmer before the little ice age (MWP) and during the Roman warming period. There are less hurricanes not more and they are not stronger. NOAA adjusts their data to make the warming look more extreme and to eliminate the pause.

Trump has cut 24,000 fed jobs…So, conservative…
And with his tariffs that you and Elizabeth Warren are cheering on, he’ll cut around 150,000 other American jobs. 
No he did not. Obama regulations only accounted for a loss of 5% of the coal industry. Natural gas and renewable energy have been the main culprits. This move is just another ill-advised campaign promise.
In the long run these bailouts will not revive the dinosaur which is the coal industry.
The only thing that kept Obama afloat (barely) was interest rates at historical lows.
Plus trump is doing so great at appointing judges, removing us from disasterous agreements, such as the Paris Accord and the Iran deal, looks like some bad treaties such as NAFTA are to be renegotiated, hundreds of regulations holding back business being eliminated, tax cuts.
What’s not to love! 
We should bring back the buggy whip plants too. Think of all those poor workers.
We wasted a ton of money on green energy companies that quickly went bankrupt. That’s a good thing though right?
