Treasury Department issues 3 General Licenses to Afghan Terrorist Government

Good Dawg. We can all agree that the exit was bungled, but this :point_up:is just partisan claptrap.

If it wasn’t a political stunt he wouldn’t have changed the date for withdrawal to Sept 11.

Sure, he could have stayed with Trump’s 5/1 date, where presumably it would have gone much worse.

Besides, the date may have been a stunt, but the withdrawal in and of itself was not.

Of Crouse. I always agreed with the withdrawal. They botched it. However he made it into a political stunt and photo op (just as e7air said) making the date 911 that backfired on them.

Cool. Now that you are caught up, this thread is about licensing transactions with the Taliban. Presumably, hopefully to feed the people.

Do you have any thoughts about that? Or would you prefer to make irrelevant, partisan talking points?

It’s probably a license from Brandon, to sell the billions of dollars of abandoned military equipment , to hostile, rogue groups with money, to then facilitate aid…amirite? :sunglasses: :tumbler_glass:

Nice snarky way to admit you were wrong. As for your question, no we should not help unless we can give the aid directly to those that need it and no funds go to the Taliban.

No, that was a snarky mockery of you. I did not admit being wrong.

Sorry about the bruised ego. Ice pack it for the 1st 24, then alternate between hot and cold.

:joy::joy:you just can’t handle being proven wrong. My post was purely to show what e7air said about it being a photo op was true, 911. For some reason you have become all defensive and resorted to personal insults. Either it was a snarky way to admit it you were wrong or a childish temper tantrum. You choose, your next response will show which one it is.

Why?

The “Taliban” was expensive. They’re not gonna let their investment go like that.

You honestly believe that they are going to use aid to help the people who need it?

No administration is bound by any previous administrations domestic or foreign policies. When an administration takes power it becomes responsible for the consequences of its policies and directives. The people of Afghanistan are in this mess because the current administration grossly mishandled the situation from Jan 20th forward. Now the people of Afghanistan are paying the price for those policy decisions, in blood, for the whole world to see. And there is no amount of money/aid that can be gifted to the Taliban factions to avoid the coming death. But you want to pour tax dollars down this dry hole. A large swath of the Afghan population are like the poor people who were trapped in the twin towers. You can see them trapped and clinging to the windows, but there is nothing that will actually save them that you are willing to do. So this is going to play out. Hundreds of millions will be handed to the Taliban factions and 10s of thousands will still die.

This is going to be a repeat of “food for oil,” only it will be a one way hand off. Aid/money in, nothing out and at best scraps to a few people. And the Taliban factions are not worried about a popular revolt. They have the guns, it will be winter. Any fighting will be between them, over any money and aid that comes in.

You thought you made a point? That’s adorable.

I’d be more inclined to believe this if you hadn’t shown your partisanship.

I stand by my assertion: the Taliban is incentivized to feed the people. Let’s revisiting a year, and see what happened.

I used to get after course reviews from my BNCOC students. Just because I was sometimes offended by the way some of them put their reviews didn’t mean I just ignored their review. I used to line through any partisan or obviously personal stuff and look at the underlying assertions. If I found reality in the underlying assertion, I used it to improve the course and my presentation of it. I enjoin others to do the same.

The Taliban won’t help anyone. They now have an operating budget. Reminds me of how Obama paid ISIS to grow. This admin is a ship of fools.

Fair, but I think you taint your thoughtful and informed analysis with it.

So just let 'em starve? Don’t even try?
