Transgender Sex Reassignment Surgery, now more accessible in Wisconsin

Relatively.

I haven’t posted in this thread and yet there’s my name.

It isn’t medically necessary, so I disagree with insurance companies picking up the tab for it.

However, if an adult wants to change their gender on their own dime that is their business not mine.

I completely disagree with allowing gender changes under any circumstance for anyone under the age of 18.

Why do you care if a private insurance wants to cover it? Just go get another insurance…

they also come with a high rate of suicide

oh wait maybe we need to do more of them

Non transgender people telling transgender people what is and isn’t necessary. The hubris.

Medically necessary. No one’s life is in danger by not having a sex change.

Plenty of suicides due to dysphoria.

And we have medicaid coverage in many of those instances.

At one time I would not have supported coverage for infertility as a medical condition.

However failure to conceive can indicate another health problem

and at least the reproductive system is something that isn’t functioning in those instances. Since insurers are forced to cover birth control at 100%, why not at least cover diagnostic services for those struggling to conceive?

I hesitate, though, at forcing insurance to cover surgery when there are noninvasive methods available to correct the problem, like corrective lenses for nearsightedness & psychotherapy for those suffering from gender dysphoria.

Treatments for infertility seem fair. Viagra, not so much IMO.

I’ll have to disagree here.

There’s nothing unhealthy about having a sex drive, and if an individual has coverage for pharmaceuticals, why not Viagra? At times diagnosed health problems like hypertension and diabetes can interfere with a man’s ability to perform sexually.

If health insurance is going to be forced to cover everything from birth control to post mastectomy breast implants for women at 100%, it should include some goodies for the men.

As I said, just my opinion.

Applying things equally, yes, it should certainly include Viagra. I’m partial to fairness myself.

It would be interesting if there was any evidence that the suicide rates were caused by the surgery but of course there is nothing but correlation. In general there is a higher rate of suicides associates with body morphism etc. hence the sessions. Duh?

which shows the surgery doesn’t fix ■■■■

so lets all stop supporting that ok?

You don’t know that it doesn’t fix anything. Again you have no statistics to show whether there is an increase of suicides due to the surgery or whether it is related to body dysmoprhia in general.

Just feelings. Your use of profanity shows just how much feelings you have behind it.

Your link is about a private entity providing services to Muslims. Feel free to set up something for Christians, if you like.
