Is CDC getting their numbers from States Departments of Health? If so…I know Indiana only updates at 10 am EST. but other states might not update until later.
All I know is what’s on their website…they report on the numbers collected as from 4 pm the previous day, and they’re not guaranteeing the accuracy of their numbers since states have taken over their own testing from them, apparently. I guess they’ll only be reporting results of tests they themselves do?
As for Johns Hopkins, I know they update several times a day.
They don’t specify exactly how they compile their numbers, but according to the map they’re compiling them from the following sources: Data sources: WHO, CDC, ECDC, NHC, DXY, 1point3acres, Worldometers.info, BNO, state and national government health departments, and local media reports
So I guess their numbers are only as good as the numbers they get from their external sources.
That’s why I made a thread some time ago about the Catch-22 of preventative measures.
Would more have died if they hadn’t been doing those preventative measures?
Same with us here in the States.
If the shutdowns work and not a lot of people die, what percentage of people will say, “See, there was no epidemic, so there was no need for us to shut down everything. We should have been allowed to go on as normal.”
Not considering that it was because of the shutdown that a lot of peoples grandparents and parents didn’t die.
Only 2 countries have updates, US and UK. Whether they’ve got the virus under control in the others or just haven’t reported…I don’t know. It may well be that they only report once a day, and info is easier to get for the US because every state is doing its own reporting and Johns Hopkins can cull it all together more quickly.
We’ll find out tomorrow about noon, I think - if the numbers for them all change or not!
