Went to see it in the theater last night for our 20th anniversary after a big burger & onion rings meal.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Tom Cruise in the beginning welcomes the audience. Val Kilmer as Iceman has a brief appearance but can’t speak much due to throat cancer treatment.

Veteran actor Ed Harris has a small part. The newer actors did an excellent job, and soundtrack was the same quality as the original film in the 1980s. There’s no way you’ll fall asleep during this film—even if you walk in on a full stomach. Definitely go see it if you get the chance.

It dawned on me how long ago the first movie was when I realized that I did not see the first movie with my wife, with whom I have been together for 35 years (dating, engagement and marriage) but instead I saw with the person I was dating before I started dating her!

I was wrong…Top Gun came out in May of 1986. I was dating the girl that was TWO girlfriends before.

I hadn’t even met my wife yet…that was still 4 months into the future.

There are some brief clips of the original, including photos of the main characters, Maverick and Ice.

Most of the original players aren’t in it, but are still alive.

The second should bring back some memories. Both of us would enjoy seeing it again in 3D or something.

They said they didn’t want too many ties to the past but there is no doubt in my mind they left Charlie out of the sequel because Kelly McGillis aged up too much.

So in with the Admiral’s daughter over whom Maverick made “a high speed pass” (nothing more than a throwaway line from the first movie).

Here’s Kelly:

She comes right out and admits she’s “old and fat”, and has other priorities. I hope Jennifer Connelly is OK. She’s thin to the point of sickly as Maverick’s interest :worried:

They needed someone who’s both still hot and somewhat age-appropriate for Maverick. Good choice.

I thought it was a excellent movie. Its been a long time since hollywood put a decent movie out.
Tom cruise may be a little nutty but i admit i enjoy a lot of his movies.

I don’t think she’s overly thin.

She’s definitely had some work done on her face.

Outstanding sequel that REALLY plays well to a packed house. If you have the chance to see it in IMAX, run for it - those aerial scenes were filmed with IMAX cameras and look utterly stunning in the format.

I thought it was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.

I do believe she’s 5 years older than Tom Cruise, and I like her it is what it is attitude:

No ranting about fat shaming or Hollywood expectations for female performers, just I’m old and fat and look age appropriate, and that isn’t what this is about.
