I said I expect my Gov. to keep the bums and crooks off the streets so that I don’t have to chase them around.
Keeping them off the streets provides for safe and enjoyable life in a civilized society.

To prevent crime, you almost need a “Minority Report” (movie) sort of pre-emption.
But I also see your point. I think you’re referring to the way our govt and justice system allow too many criminals BACK onto the streets – and as it stands now, also how they are allowing unfettered entry of illegals into this country, with a definite portion of it bringing crime.
And all that is clearly a problem that stands on the shoulders of the government that is supposed to have our interests in mind.
I also see what others have reacted to. If your next door neighbor, who has never raised the focus of law enforcement before, decides that he wants to break into your house tomorrow, there is nothing government or law enforcement can do to stop him from trying. Not without some oppressive practices that our Constitution and laws currently disallow. (And that you likely wouldn’t want either.)

My house is equally split party-wise (my son and I are GOP, my wife and daughter are Dem…daughter being the most liberal of all of us).
We are united around the saying “the family that shoots together, stays together”, however

All of us own guns, and my daughter is a pretty fair archer too.
